I had the pen when I was little and I remember the cane was a way to redirect the light towards the paper so you could write in the dark. It was actually the only somewhat useful thing the pen offered XD

The Spy Pen WAS MY CHILDHOOD. It was so good. You didn't even talk about the best feature: the case was locked and you had to use the pen itself as the key to open it.

The glasses were for imaginary play. The motion sensors were for closing the browser window when mom or dad started walking towards your room.

I think I might have owned almost every Spy Gear toy at some point and even found a few years later found them and had no idea what the hell they were. You did miss at least 1 Spy Gear toy that I think you should try. It was an RC Car with a working camera that transmitted its signal to a pair of glasses I believe. I owned it and used to scare the hell out of my parents with it.

I believe the Spy Supersonic Ear was a mini version, I recall having a larger one with adjustable volume that actually worked pretty well lol.

Although I was a little too old for the Spy Gear brand of toys, I was a massive fan of the generic “spy gear” items of the ‘80s. Except that I took it a tad too far when I started using the phone tap system my dad was given by the courts in order to record conversations with his ex-wife (who had been making threats) to record conversations with girls I would talk to, lol. And it STILL sounds creepy 30 years later!

I was absolutely obsessed with spies when McDonald's did that promo- I still have that cheap plastic grabby-thing. And those wrist lasers are sitting on my shelf right now.

I’m blessed to know that I could still use the lazer blasters. I’m constantly told my wrists are weirdly small (even by strangers when I get those day unbreakable wristbands at events lol I once had to double-wrap.)

Some Quick Corrections Biliam, bc i had the Pen Set: The scope for the Pen was always bad, but i think it was for reading micro writing (microscope?) The Motion Detector was something you would set up somewhere like by a door, so if someone tried to sneak in (like a sister or Parent) you would hear it The "Green Cane" was actually a reading lamp. the idea being that it curved the light from the pen light towards the writing end so you could write messages at night. it was green tinted to make that move"night vision effect. Basically everything in it was so you could read and write secret messages, you could even store some paper in the case as a "Secret message" that you would need to open with the pen... kinda like a "boy's" Diary

When I was a kid I got a spy ear thing, it was a little box with headphones that you could use to listen to conversations happening just out of ear range. I thought it was awesome. Later in my teenage years I used it to spy on my parents and find out what they knew about my teenaged misdeeds. I still have it lol.

I had the motion-sensitive alarm lock Happy Meal toy as a kid; I think it's still kicking around in my bedroom. It worked amazingly for a Happy Meal toy! My sister and I used to go back and forth surprising each other with it. She won by sneaking it in my bedsheets and I kicked it while trying to fall asleep.

The cane thing on the pen was truly useful. You're supposed to put the short side on top of the pen, and helps when writing in the dark. I used that a couple of times, when the lights went out while I was doing homework... And sometimes just for the fun of it

I was about to say this was my favorite Billiam episode yet just from the chaotic energy, then the expanded universes reared its head and things got even better

"James Bond 007 NightFire. The best James Bond game. Fight me." Agent Under Fire has always been more fun to me especially since there's more FPS gameplay in the campaign despite having the same 12-mission structure. Also, it's faster, the DA DA DADAAAAAAAAAA DADADA Bond Moments that happen every five seconds is hysterical, it's generally more action packed than NightFire being far more subdued. ...NightFire does have better acting and more content to its multiplayer, but I still love Agent Under Fire being way over the top nonsense better. Also, despite how much I do indeed love NightFire, I will fight you on this and will take it a step further by saying NightFire being the 2nd pick for Bond games is over-rated. AND I PLAYED *ALL* OF THEM after GoldenEye. "This is NOT a time to be horny." I'm not gonna not poke fun at this after going on a James Bond tirade over here, hahaha.

as a former spy with the switchblade 3d glasses, let me tell you they were extremely convenient when I got a 3d tarantula poster, as well as letting me read some pages of the transformers game manual, as it was 2 manuals built into 1 since you could play as autobot or decepticon, and their solution was writing pages in blue for autobots and red for decepticons

Those spy wrist lazer things were awesome as a kid! They worked with any other lazer tag game thing aswell which was really fun

I had the huge night vision goggles, that were like a pair of cheap binoculars with a green tint, and a big pop-up flashlight. It was a lot less stylized, more of this grey block you wore on your head with a snap-on frame. The key chain listener is actually a small version of the spy dish I have still! It looks exactly the same but is like four times the size.

As sweet as the nostalgia is, the real fridge horror is in how often these toys broke and how many ended up contributing to pollution worldwide.

I've had those weird wrist laser gun things as a kid and had a blast playing with them. I also always dreamed of a set binoculars with a microphone so i could listen to things far away, but i never got them because all the spy gear that was sold at toy stores in my town would sell out instantly
