As for this video:
This video was filmed on the 1st of January 2023 after I carried and used the knife for 4 Months.
I hope you like it
The video might be a little "all over the place" but keep in mind please that I am telling you my experiences with the knife. Things I did and how I found out what the knife does/can do not just by watching what other people said/did.

I just bought the Cruwear version a few weeks ago & so far I think it's a decent knife. Thanks for the review!

Glad you liked it. I never knew they made a cruwear version. I do like that steel! Enjoy it and use it in good health!

Nice review! Ive used the gb2 alot over the last year. My only complaint is the detent is weak because the detent ball is too large for the detent hole , so the lockbar cant hold it closed well enough. It popped open in my pocket and that sharp af m4 sliced me good! Love the design and everything else about it. Mine is fully customized with an acid etched blade, lockbar access, sharpening choil, micarta scales, deep carry clip, and bead blasted liners. It looks amazing. Cheers!

I have seen a few customized GB2's. I think this model lends itself to that. I personally also like the standard version as it comes...the only thing I would do...not so much visually as funcional is what I did here....put a deep carry pocket clip, carries batter and is more comfortable. Yes, you are right, the detent is weaker than others. Same on my Sage 1(also a Taichung model). I personally do not mind but I can definitely understand why it is a problem for you. All it takes is 1 bad cut. About 1 month in....i thought about micarta scales...but that passed...maybe someday....

Great video, I liked the comparisons you chose. The gb2 has been on my to get list for a lot of years. As market trends stray away from my personal interests, I have been slowly catching up on older knives I have always wanted to try. This one and a ZT 0640 have always been very good looking knives to me, the latter being discontinued and second hand prices just way too high.

some new models seem quite interesting. but tbh...the older models just feel better in hand. I have had a few ZT's but they were always very thick behind the edge and build more for abusive work than to be used as fine cutting tools. the 0350 is a great heavy duty work folder but not so adequate for finer cutting tasks. The GB2 falls under more categories: gentleman' folder, heavier task knife and due to the grind you can also do finer tasks with it. plus i think it just looks good in either role

From what I remember, they said the proud liners are a cheap way for the handle scales to feel rounded without actually machining a contour into the handle. So basically it was done to cut costs.
@SpartanJohns
@SpartanJohns Год назад
Yes....but also for the looks... If they would have made the scales flush with the liners you could have rounded the scales off with a piece of sand paper.... I also heard Gayle Bradley talk about that and, tbh, if it would have been my design i would have insisted that Spyderco round off the liners like on the Civivi Elementum which has proud liners and lacks a big cutout for the liner lock...none of these features were advertised but they work much better than for the Bradley.

Perhaps just that for people with very big hands this knife works great, while not looking too much oversized.
@SpartanJohns
@SpartanJohns 6 месяцев назад
@@gerardvanengelen9001 I never felt it being oversized. But then again I went from the Caribbean which is feels bigger and wider in hand an in the pocket... Point taken! Thanks! So I take it you're happy with it! I think it's a great knife! Very stylish...imo it would do a good job as a gentleman's knife. And it is capable enough to take on rough tasks.

Hi! Wow, i am allways shocked how few bigger Spyderco-Modells i know. (Maybe because i can't afford them.) Normally i do not like hollow-grind knives that much, but the Gayle Bradley looks awsome! 👍 Also i like the Caribbean a lot and i'd also love to check out the new Military 2. Formerly i was no fan of Spyderco, but the more i see, the more i love them. If only it weren't for that damn money thing. Thanks a lot for showing! LG

Yes...the price is....a bit much! I like hollow grinds..i think they look very cool. The Bradley 2 is a very interesting model. But the Caribbean...imo, that is one of the best designs Spyderco ever made. It has it's flaws, sure...but overall it is superb. If I had to choose between these 2...i would probably choose the Caribbean.

Thank you! Yes, I know about that video. I have watched it. I can't say I agree with him on all points. It has now been more than 1 year since I posted this review and I still own this knife. And I still like it. BUT....first change I get to invest some time in a knife to improve comfort it will be this one. Looking at the Elementum and taking a lesson from that, all one has to do is round of the liners.

I have sharpened M4 steel on my Spyderco Advocate. It was a lot of work but I was happy with the edge when I was done. I would not be at all interested in re profiling the edge angle on ANY knife with M4 steel.
@SpartanJohns
@SpartanJohns 9 месяцев назад
Part 1 of this video is on my pateron there I talk about the steel. If you use diamond plates, rerofiling M4 is not a chore. I tested K390 much more than M4 and maybe that is why I like it a bit more since I trust it more especially since I dropped it to 12-13 dps and had no issues with the edge. M4, i feel, can do the same thing. I never tried to reprofile it with anything else than diamond plates so I can't say how hard it is to grind. That said: i used the worksharp diamond plates. They are ok but, by far, not the best diamond plates on the market. I reprofile 99% of my knives. Simply because I think that 17-20 dps, while a good edge angle to work with for the average user, makes prolonged tasks into chores. 12-13 dps makes most cutting tasks fun.

WTF is a proud liner?
@bradcunningham2735
@bradcunningham2735 6 месяцев назад
The carbon fiber looking scales are slightly smaller than the steel liners. Hence, the steel liner protrudes the scales all around the perimeter of the knife. Sticks out=proud

@bradcunningham2735 , Interesting I never knew that. Thank you for educating me on that. 😁

I would have told you that a proud liner is the opposite of an "ashamed liner" ;) However the explanation you got was much better. That's the "dad humour" starting to come out.... If you want a good example of proud liners which work...the civivi Elementum. Much more comfortable than the GB2. Because they rounded them off...I have a video about the Elementum if you care.
