The brand new for 2018 Spyderco Caribbean Knife is part of the Salt line of rust free knives using LC200N corrosion proof steel. It has a compression lock like the Para Military 2, but with a larger blade and handle. Is it the Para Military killer we’ve all been waiting for? The milled G10 handle has raised and recessed texture to help it stay in your hand in wet or slimy conditions. In this video I compare it to some ofter Spydercos and Benchmades- like the Paramilitary 2, the Benchmade Fact, and the Endura 4. I thought about an LC200N Mule myself -- fantasizing that one wasn't as yet unobtainium -- but, honestly, I can't see much practical benefit to LC200N on the right fixed blade design. I'm steeling myself to pull the trigger today on a Bradford Guardian in Nitro-V, though, which might have further benefits. Practically speaking, I'm pretty much already 'there' for any salty on-water tasks I could anticipate with the Krupp 4116 on my cheap Cold Steel Lites with polypropylene handles.

Frederick J. Yeah 4116 will pretty much get you through most tasks. And Bradford guardians are very nice, I almost bought the m390 version, but got a griptilian in m390 with carbon fiber handles instead. Nitro-v wasn’t around at the time, I might have went with the guardian lol.

You can still grab one on Massdump. For another couple of days, or so... I have much optimism that the N690cos + the minimalist, easy take-apart design on my new Spy-DK will effectively be as "Salt" as really required for small boat sailing and sea kayaking, given sensible end-of-working-day maintenance. Definitely a featherweight, but very capable thin shorts, sweaty day option, I think, subbing for my likewise 1.90 ounce K390 Urban!

I’ll start it off. I think it came from the batoning. Since in the knife community people think a knife is only meant to be looked at, or at most used for 1 very light cutting task, then it’s to be retired and saved forever, or it’s to be sold immediately so you can buy a new knife to replace your now used one.

I have never batoned with my Yojimbo 2, and Para Military 2. However if I don't do it people ask... so I do it, and everyone is happy. If people don't realize it's a running joke at this point, and it never ever been done in a useful practical sort of ways- it's not my fault. If the knife breaks and can;t handle it, I really don't give a shit at this point. People like these videos, and I do it for the subscribers and not respect out of some $200 piece of pocket bling. The more a production knife costs, the less I respect it.

His beer reviews get disliked at about the same ratio compared to the likes. So even if anti batoning comments are common it is probably not that. I think it's his "jokes" in general or the format and his voice that motivates a few people to leave a dislike.

Actually it's subscribers driving a larger proportion of my thumbs down on beer videos. They also get a higher proportion of thumbs up per views from subscribers. For example my Duclaw video has more thumbs up total (298) at half the overall views of my We Knives video recently. I would assume it's mainly from the dudes who watch and comment on every video. Big thanks to them. But yes... the jokes... the voice... whatever it may be people still dislike this channel. Not at much different rates of my peers though. I guess I'm trying to say the internet it full of people, and you'll never please everyone. I make it a point to treat people like I want to be treated though. I don't leave nasty comments on videos, and don't thumbs down many videos. Especially not small creators or people in my niche.

Advanced Knife Bro for me 7 to 8 oz is where I can feel it in my pocket. In my cloths I can’t really even notice a 6oz knife in my pocket. And I definitely can’t feel the difference between a 4 and 6 oz knife in my cloths. Never really tried a crazy heavy knife in my workout pants tho. I could probably feel a difference in them. With those I normally carry a sabenza or pm2

Great review of the Caribbean. I'm really liking this knife for a variety of reasons: compression lock, great steel, good edge:handle ratio. Easily beats out the PM2 or the Shaman for me. By the way...where exactly is the secondary market? I’ve never been able to find it. Is it like a deep state knife thing that only a few know about? That's definitely not true. I emailed Spyderco about this directly (after the review) and Sals assistant told me they were stainless. Liner is LC200N though, and the clip is Ti. That isn't to say they might not make upgrades, but as of a week after this review production models were shipping with stainless screws.

Seems like it's a little chunky? Blocky? Is it bulky in the pocket? I don't leave my knives in the ocean so rust free doesn't matter as much so I'll probably opt for the PM2 when I jump on the Spyderco train.

It's a bit wide, but not heavy. I dunno, it's a little more about weight to me since I carry it by itself in an inside suit pocket. PM2 has a slimmer profile for sure.

Actually soon we can no longer have them delivered to our homes. We have to go to an approved collection point and provide ID, then they will release the item. Flippers of all kinds are no longer allowed ...and they are looking into banning one handed openers.

Hail . . . . I really like my Caribbean for death Cult Activities. Other steels start to rust at the sight of puppy or kitten blood, where the LC200N sadistically laughs at the blood as it spits it out like Richard Simmons on stage at the Cheyenne Frontier Days. Just ordered one based on your review, living in Florida its a must for beach and boating! Like everything else around salt water you must rinse in freshwater after use, cause everything rusts eventually!

The liners are same steel as blade and titanium hardware and I beleive free of locktight

The hardware is not titanium. This is a misconception caused by a review of product description that basically invented the titanium hardware talking point. I emailed Sal at Spyderco directly and his assistant said this: “ I would like to introduce myself; my name is Kate Mastriano and I am Sal Glesser’s assistant. Thank you for taking the time to contact him with your questions regarding the Caribbean and Thank you for the RU-vid reviews! The liner in this model is made from LC200N, the screws are stainless and as you noted the clip is titanium. If you have any other questions, please let me know!” Hope this clears it up. I get the titanium hardware comment every few months, and unless they changed manufacturing- then it always has been wrong information.
