Wtf did I just watched 😂. I was superimpressed in what amount of abuse it took before it faild. It didn’t break that tiny little tip when you got loose on the can for instance. And the fact that you think it was bad that the lock broke when you hammered it was super funny. Keep up the humor boys 😅

I agree with ya, any knife sucks if you use it for something it's obviously not built for. This is a small pocket knife, it shouldn't even compared to a lot of different knives, it's built for slicing. If I use my laptop as a gaming PC, it's probably gonna suck at running games, but it's not built to be a gaming PC, and just bc it doesn't run every game as a laptop, doesn't make it a lousy computer. If you would baton with a Delica I gotta check your brain functionality, that's what a fixed blade is for. I could also say my Essee 4 is a bad folding knife, bc it's not a folding knife just like the Delica isn't a bushcraft blade. Smh

Anyone watching this…the delica is a lightweight slicer. Its usefulness lies within its cutting geometry and its ease of carry…as a tool, THAT’S its purpose. Don’t baton with it, don’t throw it and don’t pry with it. If you follow these simple rules, your delica will last at least a decade. Furthermore, your life should never depend on a delica beyond cutting a seatbelt strap or something. This *should* be obvious when looking at a small, FRN backlock but apparently this kind of stuff needs to be said.

I've had an Endura 4 in VG-10 in my EDC rotation for about 8 years now. I love the thing to death, but the biggest problem it has is certainly its FRN handle scales. The scalloping they have allows it to provide decent grip, but it does feel kind of cheap. I reckon if you put solid liners and micarta or even titanium, aluminum, or stainless scales on it it'd stand up to quite a bit more abuse. I'd be interested in seeing a post-mortem to see where it failed exactly.

I like my delica but I don't demand a lot of it in my primary career of security. As a slicing EDC knife, it is superb but when I am doing my side job of working on cars I prefer something more robust like my Benchmade 940, Honey badger wharncleaver or Cold steel code 4 spear point. I don't think the tip would live up to the abuse of cutting old coolant hoses or cutting crusty zipties. If I could make an excuse for the FRN handles then it would be it does really helps with weight and that really helps me to accept it when carrying for security.... but aluminum or titanium handles can do the same thing I know since the Benchmade 940 does so with aluminum scales.

this is cool content. i respect what you guys are doing. that said no one should ever use a hammer on a folding knife. ever. its a knife. its supposed to do knife things. if you absolutely need to hammer on a knife (which you should never do) use a fixed blade please. no one expects a Delica Lightweight to handle abuse like this. Im definitly not surprised it broke. Im actually kind of satisfied how far it went. yeah the delica is overpriced, but at the same time its unique and iconic. the $10 knives you guys say passed your tests also not fair comparisons. those knives are likely not heat treated for performance or ground for sliceyness with thin geometry like a spyderco, and likely use the absolute bottom of the barrel of blade material. like worse than 8cr13mov and aus 8. those knives have 420j at best

I like American made knives, so I like Spyderco. I also like benchmade, crk among others. I understand that this is made in japan and all but that’s not the point. I doubt American made knives can handle being hammered on either. There’s a plastic little piece that holds the spring and I’m sure it got broke, bent/torn or came out of the hole. If you’re pounding on a knife with a hammer you’re an idiot (unless of course you’re testing it for how not to use it). Use the right tool for the job. This only proves how not to use ANY knife.

At 6:42, what is that grip my man? I see this all the time and it’s gotta be the worst grip for what your doing. A simple hammer grip is more stable(less wobbly which is good for your cut and the durability of the edge), less fatiguing and less likely to give you a repetitive stress injury. As far as your dislike for the delica I’ll just say your criteria for what a good pocket knife is has me puzzled as well. You don’t baton wood with a delica, you just cut through it. It’s that good at simply cutting. My delica made me money at my job for about 5 years. Keep having fun with the vids.

You tested one of the lightest, thinest, non hard use knives Spydrco makes and you act shocked it failed bushcraft tests. It was designed for light to normal edc cutting tasks which it accels at. The weight of the knife directly effects its strengh. I understand what you were trying to do, but your tests are not a good indication of the Delicas quality. Cold steel knives will probably pass your tests 9 out of 10 times if not 10 out of 10, but if you've got a pile of cardboard to break down I'd take the Delica over any Cold steel anytime. If I need a knife to survive a zombie apocolypse the Delica is a bad choice (duh). Un realistic expectations guarantee failure.

Try those tests on a cold steel 4max scout. About 80 bucks on Amazon. It will beat all the tests. 😁

I own a spyderco manix light weight which isn't bad, but I've owned 3 three spyderco tenacious and all of them we're legit trash. If I'm carrying a pocket knife I want it to take light abuse which I had kershaws hold up better, but anyway love your guy's channel watch it all the time thank you! Best abuse edc knife in my opinion benchmade griptilian.

oh that griptilian has been on our list for a very long time! That might just have to get bumped up on the list

It's a light weight general use folding Pocket knife targeted to people who work or play and require a lightweight but very durable slicing tool on their persons every day. I have girl hands for a 31 yo man I'll admit it but even I don't have any issue opening or closing a delica or really any back lock knife for that matter. The package...really?? The first couple knives and flashlights I owned I saved the boxes to feel "cool" not unlike when I was in the 4th grade collecting Pokemon cards... The delica is NOT the greatest blade of all blades and all time of epic proportions... But it's great. What I want to know is what 20, 30.or probably even maybe 40 dollar knife you know that overall is a better value (lifetime of use/reliability, warranty/customer service, USEABLE POCKET CLIP NOT POCKET CADDY LIKE MOST KNIVES, edge retention. Better yet what "10 dollar" or "gas station" knives are you guys getting that feel even half as good as the delica?!? And what is the name of that store??? I know you guys gave it your prestigious, honorable EDC stamp of approval and all and I'm sure that the Glessers are honored, not to mention humbled to even get such an accolade from such respected names in the knife community such as yourselves, but I think you guys are sorta missing the point of the delica all together. It's supposed to be a knife small and light enough to carry every day yet strong and simple and of course sharp enough to be able to use every day too if needed. However the box is irrelevant, bearings and flicky tabs and other finger fuckability is also irrelevant just as shiny and sparkly scales and rainbow colored hardware made from today's most hip precious metal according to the forums and Instagram pages. It's not so much what the delica has as much as what it DOESNT have proving that it doesn't NEED to be a subjectively perfect pocket knife.

Hahahaha wow man I'm glad we don't spell our names the same way. You are a fanboy through and through and thats fine. But don't think for a second that we have any ego in this. We torture test knives to see their limitations. Literally any knife we stamped can out perform this blade. There are many people that actually care about that. I see you do not, so no big deal

It's simple, I wouldn't gamble my life with that POS. Thanks for showing the lameness of that overpriced pile 👎🏾 I carry and use knives everyday and this isn't worth knowing it could fail you when you need it most.

Hi guys! I hope you are well, I always watch your videos with interest! Congratulations you are very good. As I have already said, I do not like Spyderco at all: they are expensive and overrated knives, not very robust and even aesthetically ugly! And in fact you have amply demonstrated it! I recommend, if you want to test the "core" model of FOX, if you want to test an excellent knife. Fox is an Italian company that produces excellent knives together with the EXTREMA RATIO company which is also very Italian !! I wish you all the best, good life and see you next time!
