Once again you've caused inspiration to further my collection and replace my EDC. Used some Christmas money to finally pull the trigger on this knife and get her coming my way. Thanks Nutn for all you work and devotion for making tried and true realistic reviews and keeping it real all the time. There are plenty of us that greatly appreciate all that you, doodle, bugget, pfi, the misses, bad, and the rest of crew do for us all.
I bought this knife for my deployment and an edc when I get back home, decided to go with it based off the original manix 2 review nutnfancy did and all the positive things he had to say. When I received it, first impression this is such a beautiful knife, the blue and polished colr pallette makes it not look so utilitarian as most blades do. Then on the first blade deployment and hearing the ball bearing lock in to place I knew I had made the right decision. It looks amazing but wow it feels even better in hand and the lock up is extremely strong. I have had this blade for a couple months and the lockup is still just as strong but easier to disengage and move the blade than originally. The blade has maintained a respectable edge through admittedly light usage so I don't feel comfortable speaking on it more . It is a light knife that dissappears in my pocket which is exactly what I want, I wish the clip made the knife ride lower in pocket like my sog aegis does, but that is my only complaint against it. Unlike my sog aegis the manix 2 blade sits perfectly centered and has no side to side movement unless trying to use it as a pry bar. All in all like nutnfancy I fully recommend this knife and I will purchase more copies in case I ever misplace this one it is really that great
I'm not a huge knife guy, but this is my EDC. Great edge, light. Super simple and smooth action. The guy behind the counter tried to sell me a similar price point Benchmade. I preferred the action on this one.
I just got my Manix 2 in the mail yesterday. After watching numerous Nutnfancy knife reviews I saw this one and the combination of price, quality and weight made the Manix 2 seem perfect for an EDC blade. Thanks Nutnfancy.
Had mine for a couple weeks now thanks to this review. Carrying it daily you tend to forget it is there even getting in and out of my vehicle. Bigger and heavier knifes get left at home because they get annoying to carry. Thanks Nutn!
Just ordered one, being a Marine I wanted a big lightweight blade and this one fits the bill. Cant wait to get it and it will look great in the pocket of my desert cammies
+J.L Hoffy Its great, the handle is a perfect size and fits in my hand perfectly. Its extremely ergonomic and is honestly a joy to use. It takes a mean edge and holds it for quite a while. The blade slices like no other and has a fine point for small detailed tasks that it's quite useful. Overall l would give it a 10 out of 10.
Total home run of a knife. Just got mine for 68 w/ adjustable pivot screw rather than older version pin. I was apprehensive to get another Spyderco when my Endura lock failed on me after dropping it, but with this lock = no worries. Fits like a glove no matter how you hold it and so comfortably light in the pocket. This one fills the bill on everything I've been looking for in a knife. The search is over (or at least on hold for a great while -I am a knife junkie). Definitely takes the place over my usual rotation of the dozens of others I've EDC. One of favorites of your reviews and always a fan. Thanks again!
Dude, been a subscriber for a while, and I just bought this knife for my dad for father's day. I was trying to pick him out a great american made locking blade because he mentioned he wanted one and I couldn't decide between this and the regular manix 2. Then I remembered your review cranking it to eleven and quickly grabbed him one of these! Thanks for the content - love your channel. You introduced me to spyderco long ago and theyre my favorite knife company!
Love how the weight is still balanced RIGHT on the ball lock, just got mine in the mail and was surprised that the weight distribution was so even.. Gotta hand it to em, this is a wonderful edc
Been EDC'n this knife for a week now and it's an absolute dream. The knife profile and weight make it disappear when you clip it to your pocket. In hand it's an absolute dream. Confirmed 11/10 from this TNP'r
I gave this to my father for his fathers day gift today. Best gift I've ever given him, thank you for the review! Once I get some bills paid I'll be buying another one, this time to keep for myself :)
You're just one of those people who look for the bad in everything such as this honest and very well done review. I wasn't aware that having respect for an honest reviewer put me in a "cult."
You're the primary reason behind my current knife addiction and this is my favorite folding knife. I just ordered another because Cutlery Shoppe has these on special right now for $60!...and with the nutnfancy coupon code shipping is free. I just couldn't resist. Thank you sir!
Thank you nutnfancy, no one else on youtube can do a review about how somethings weight can help effect possible uses (POU and SAWC), and still be so captivating and interesting. I think I have payed more attention, and learned more from you that I did my last year in school. Keep doing what you're doing, TNP 4 LIFE
This review made me buy this knife about 9 months ago. I got the black one with the torq screw instead of this one. I am so happy with it. This and the bench made 551H20 are my 2 most used knives.
Around sixty dollars and US made! A home run! I have a sprint run Manix 2 that I won't EDC and now I can buy one I can thrash on. Keep them reviews coming.
After having this knife for 8 months (ordered a couple days before this review) I can honestly say that it has given me the best performance out of all of my knives. It stays in my rotation, beating out Enduras, RAT1s, a Microtech, a Griptilian, an Aegis, etc. Best knife purchase ever
I bought one of these about 2 years ago, I was 15 at the time, I'm almost 17 now and I have refused to carry another knife for EDC since I got it and honestly, I don't think I ever will carry another blade for EDC. The blade steel, blade shape, handle design, and weight are PERFECT for my needs. If i eventually ever wear my manix out I will immediately buy another! (Btw this vid made me buy this knife so thanks!)
I bought this knife after watching a bunch of knife review videos for a friends birthday, this video sold me on it. This blade is super cool and my friend loves it. I also loved it so much that I immediately bought one for myself. I love the full size blade with the super light weight construction. The sharpness out of the box is great. My only complaint (and it's not a big one ) is that I usually buy knives with blade deploying thumb stud, this knife has a hole instead. Some times I have a goofy blade deployment, because my thumb slips out of the deployment hole. It's not a huge deal, It just takes me a bit of getting used to. Otherwise, awesome knife and I would highly recommend it as well.
This is the knife I brought with me to Africa. all I can say is love it, love it, love it. All of the locals that see and use it love it too. Other knives i brought have broken but this one has yet to fail me. thanks nutn' u r awesome.
Just received my Spyderco Manix2 Black Blade ~ C101GBBK2...it's got more heft to it than the C101BL2 but I'm in love. Also got a foursevens Preon 2 and Quark Pro QP2L-X. I can't stop playing with all my new gear. Meeting some family in Golden CO today too so I'm going to swing by Spyderco and check it out. Thank you Nutn for all the great reviews and hard work.
Just ordered this knife today. Luckily we just bought new pillows for the couch...I will be spending a lot of time there over the next couple of weeks. Thanks nutn!
Love this knife!!! I purchased this knife because of your review and I'm glad I did! Love the size, weight, handle material, and it can incredibly sharp. I did not think I was going to like the handle material at first but love it. Spyderco if you are checking these comments out. I would like to see this handle on more models and in other colors. Purple would be sick!!!!
Hey nutn, I got myself this manix 2 and my pivot is actually adjustable. Also the lock is black, not transparent, which makes the knife look more "professional" in my opinion. Thanks for this video by the way, you convinced me to get it myself
Ah-ha, Nutnfancy! This time, my buying this knife IS NOT YOUR FAULT.! Victory at last. Now my wife can't be mad that I watched your videos! Why? Because I bought the knife as soon as it came out. And your review is spot-on!
I love that for once I am sitting here watching the review with the knife already in my pocket! Feels good to have learned SO much from you Nutnfancy that I can see a homerun knife for myself & get it before you have a chance to get the video up! I credit that to all your other great video's Nutn. Thx!
First... My name is Frank, and. I have NO idea why my wife's name appears here. I had the BD1 version, and the lock was super sticky. I returned it, and decided to try the S110V version. Perfect lock and deployment, and the blade is scary sharp after 15 minutes on my Apex Edge Pro. The BD1 version left me pissed, and the S110V is PERFECT! The handle fits my hand as well as my Para Military 2, and the Manix gets carried every day now. Keep up the good work, Nutnfancy!
He does such a fantastic job with the reviews there. I absolutely enjoy hereing his stories he always shares with the epic reviews. Keep it up man! You are incredible.
Mine has been exceptional. Bought thi knife and never regreted it. Almost a yearand its still in my pocket everyday. No knife before this one lasted more than a month before I got bored with it.
You had me at Spyderco....thanks Nutnfancy, just got 3 of them based on your stellar review as first knives for our 3 teenage boys. Just as my dad did for me many years ago with a Delica clip it.
Bought this from this review and some others. Best knife purchase I think I've ever made. LOVE the design. Tolerances were insanely tight from factory. Beautiful quality. Mine came with an adjustable pivot as the ones coming from the factory now, do. However, needed no adujstment. Love this knife.
The Manix2 is one of the best knives that Spyderco has ever designed! The ergo's and grip are superior to just about anything else out there! As someone who has been in the cutlery industry of 33+yrs this knife has been my EDC since their inception along with a discontinued Spydie called the Superleaf! Good review!
Love the blue G10. Love the 2nd type of cool of all the blue knives and glad to know they have their first type of cool turned up to 11. Thanks for sharing!
was able to pick this knife up a few days after it came out from a knife dealer at a gun show. Last one he had and paid $70 for it probably my best sub-$100 knife.
just got this blade last week, bu it took a few hits right away. the handle is very plastic-like. feels-looks a little cheap and feels more slick than the usual spyderco frn handles. it has grown on me quite a bit and i like it. the wire pocket clip is very clunky. i never notice my endura or delica clips, but i was very aware that i had the blade on my pocket, definitely worthy of 11/10!! and you did say that the pink scalllions, i think, would make a good gift for your wife!
Loving the knife reviews!! I have been looking at this knife for a couple of months now and you just pushed me over the the edge! Ordered it before I finished your review. My wife is going to kill me when she sees this knife in the mail!!! Thanks a lot! Lol
Heading to the factory store tomorrow in Golden, if they don't have it, im back ordering it from Nutnfancy's preferred vendor. My wife is so mad at you right now lol :), oh, and I'm going to the Tanner gun show this weekend too, im glad I know how to camp out because I'm probably going to be living in my backyard after the next few days. This channel Rocks, have been following it for years.
So I had to buy this knife after this review but I ended up buying all my nutnfancy knives I've been wanting. Kabar Heavy Bowie, Spyderco Manix 2. Endura 4, Tenacious G-10, Delica 4, and Ontario Mk III Navy Knife which I'm not sure you have reviewed. Still more on my Christmas list like the Becker BK9. Thanks for the honest reviews. Your the best.
Got the native 5 at my gun store for 40 bucks because of a pricing error, they had it in the gerber case! Got it brand new in box for 40 bucks! What a blade!
Thumbs up for a blade sharpening techniques and sharpener reviews! Come on Nutn! A lot of have a bunch of blades but suck at sharpening. Awesome vid; by the way. (As always) ;)
This one looks great, wish it was out there awhile ago. The knife I got was the Spyderco salt 1. Its blade shipe is biasted towards rescue not tactical, no stabbing potential. Its 3", rust proof h1 steel, 2oz. Love it.
Another great knife review. Now if this could be in 3 inches (State law 3 in. or less for carry), put me on buy side. Nice to see a high value U.S. made steel. Two thumbs up!! Thanks Nutn and Veri.
From the pictures, its good to see you will be reviewing some Mora knives. I have always been curious to see how they hold up. Looking forward to seeing what you have to say about them.
Nutnfancy, I've been following your reviews for a long time now (learnt a lot of what I know about knives from your videos) and decided to buy one of your "favorites" - just to see if you were on to something. I normally use your videos to judge a knife I'm already looking at, but this time I decided to go to your hall of fame and pick out the one you seemed most excited about. Well, it was the Manix 2, lightweight. Purchased it in black (sorry, couldn't hack the blue) and have been dreading its arrival ever since, thinking that I miiiight not like it. Holy. Smokes. The Manix 2 lightweight is stunning. So much knife in such a light package. The construction might feel cheap to an inexperienced knife handler, but if you know what you are holding, the handles are solid. The steel is... good. Not my #1 preference but the ease of sharpening, corrosion resistance and reasonable edge retention make it up there on my list. Thanks for the NTP. I'm loving this knife. p.s. I'll be hitting the ZT 0560 up when my budget allows.
Just got mine after watching your review like a million times, great video & awesome blade. Thanks for all your hard work bringing us great info :) Happy New Year to you and your family :)
CTS-BD1 is Carpenters version of Gingami 1, aka Gin 1 or G-2. Gingami 1 was commonly used by Spyderco before they switched to VG-10. The UKPK line had Gingami 1 blade steel up until recently when they switched the whole line to Amercan made CTS-BD1.
got mine on friday and i love it! i have the newer version so it actually isn't a rivet its a star allen. thanks for the help. Great video nuttin. Cant stop playing with this knife.
Wow, srsly wow. Mine arrived today, my 1st Spyderco. It is one impressive specimen of cutlery. I''ve been hankering for an upgrade to my EDC and I'll have to admit, even after consternating over the specs of this for quite a while it's a bit larger than I anticipated! In retrospect I probably would have gone with the Delica4 FFG and may still do in future. Fr now though I'm getting used to handling this and it is so damn light I still forget I have it on me. Agree with the stellar review a
As always, thorough review. S.O. was sitting by me as i watched this, there were a few not so subtle "ahem"s at some choice parts in your video ha. Just ordered this knife, very excited for it to arrive. Was pleased to hear the blade is so corrosive resistant, I've been eyeing the Spyderco Salts as well.
I was thinking about getting his knife already ( I know late comment) and I know how you are with your reviews. good and honest once. so once I heard eleven out of ten, I'm buying this for sure
I just bought this knife together with the new for 2013 FFG UKPK. It's my first "better" folder and I'm happy with it. It has zero blade play and both the lock and the FRCP handles (albeit being even lighter than I had imagined) feel more reassuring than I had expected from watching videos. Unlike the UKPK (which otherwise did more than meet my expections), the Manix came shaving sharp. Too bad American knives are so expensive here (twice the US price).
I just bought the black blade/handle CTS BD1 version. I have many knives, and use carry a Griptilian daily. The Grip has a MUCH smoother action than the Manix 2, and the Axis lock is a dream compared to the Manix's stiff spring lock. After oiling the Manix's bushes, and working the action for an hour, it did begin to loosen up. I don't see how the spring will loosen, however, and it requires two fingers to actuate. The Grip works easily with one finger. The Manix's blade is about 1/2" shorter than the Grip, the closed it's handle is about 1/8" longer than the Grip. I have big hands, but that longer handle tends to slide out of my palm when actuating the lock release one-handed. I love the Manix's all black look, and the blade is nice, so I'm struggling for a reason to keep this knife. I bought it mail order, but probably wouldn't have if I had seen it in person. It is noticeably lighter when picked up than the Grip, but that disappears when the knives are unfolded and gripped.
It's just a zip tie, when you carry the knife tip up it your pocket it acts like an Emerson wave feature and snags on the pocket deploying the blade as you draw the knife. Spyderco makes some knives with the wave feature instead of the deployment hole. You can do it to any blade with a spider hole
I just got my green tenacious in the mail yesterday, I love it. But I also have a CPM-M4 Manix 2 and love it as well. It's a very well designed knife, So I say get both! Trust me, you won't be disappointed with either.
i blame my purchase of this knife on you! it is all your fault that i have this amazing blade because I'm addicted to your videos! thanks for your info and opinion! cheers
My lower back always seems to hurt bad when ever I get sick. My girlfriend got me this knife for my birthday. She ordered it the same night the review came out (BladeHQ). Any who I switched out my CS spartan for the manix 2 lightweight the week I got sick. At work with the rest of my rig and It saved my back. I feel like a schizophrenic sometimes when I pack huge blades with nutnfancy in my ear telling me "Its too heavy stupid grab a lighter blade". Its my new running/hiking blade. THANX
I don't know if you are still looking for it but if you wanna see where the blue handle blade is its at the sypderco website, go to catalog home and then spderco knives, And the knives are in alphabetical order so on page 3 about half way down are all of the manix blades :)
Nice! Don't have to worry about the wife thing anymore hahaha. Leatherman didn't make a survival tool that had diamonds and fit on finger. I even told her that it slices and dices! Ya, I slept with 1 eye open for a couple days.
