Agreed. I got this in my recommended. Looked at his other vids and more of the same. Sad when you promote the theft from legitimate companies, especially when the thieves are from a country actively trying to subvert the U.S. economy. He is not promoting legitimate Chinese brands, he's promoting blatant counterfeits. Hey, not all people are proud to be an American. Is this guy Canadian perhaps?

Temu did another purge of Spyderco knives (Protechs too) about a week ago - which was after I recorded this. They’ll come back in a week or so. But the best place to get them right now is ok-knives.net. They are the exact same (Chinese) quality knives at the same price. But much easier to find everything you want. 👍

No they don’t! The spydecos that are made in The Taiwan Taichung factor come in a box that state that. They DO NOT come in a Golden Colorado Earth box if you have had one that is like that then you have purchased a fake!!! No ifs or buts! Just like @just9911 has gone into in his comment. The only exception are on some special occasions when it comes to some sprint runs but they will let you know that is the fact on the spyderco website. End of story

Good video!!! I just ordered one and I am hoping to get a decent one. I’ve got probably 10 or so Spyderco copies and most have been very well done. Over the past 15 years though I have amassed well over a hundred real ones and I agree that for the most part these help sell the real thing. The big problem is those selling counterfeits as the real deal. You have to do some homework buying a Spyderco on the secondary market or from non authorized dealers.

This type of stuff hurts us in the long run. Company's in our Country can't compete with a Country who doesn't have to play the game of life with morals. They get free shipping they don't sell them to make a profit CCP funds this to Undermind our USA company's.

I just wanna add a little tidbit if info going forward for you, most american knife makers have all their boxes and what not produced overseas, they are not having them printed up here, so the boxes from some of these clone knives could very well be the actual boxes that the real knives come in. Also I really love seeing a channel on youtube dedicated to looking at these things. The normal mechanism of "if a creator has a big audience so their advice must be sound to an extent" mentality is hard to replicate when your looking at these sorts of things, your never gonna get the same promotion or opportunities that others get cause they gush all over the overly expensive knives. To me that says unequivocally that you are not bought and paid for and therefore actually (mostly) trustworthy in your opinions about these products.

I can sort of understand exactly what you’re saying and doing but ( yeah I know there’s a but) you should definitely try and hammer home that people should really do their best to avoid the counterfeit stuff it does have a negative effect on the company’s reputation! Simply because people being people don’t understand that they have actually got a counterfeit knife and then start judging spyderco knives off of a piece of inferior junk.!! There are loads of Chinese knives out there that have been made by Chinese companies that might look the same but don’t take it as far as the ones that you are showing trying to deceive people but they make theirs with out any marks that are actually spyderco related but are their own marks so you can easily tell it’s not a spyderco and they have not tried to make you or other people think it is either yet they have made them the same but with subpar steels for the exact reason you are saying! So you can see if you might enjoy that particular model knife but not at the blatant intention of deceit … Out right counterfeit knives are nothing more than a problem for the companies that are getting counterfeited! So I don’t really agree fully but can understand where you are coming from although you should do more ( and this is only my opinion) to try and show the Chinese knives that are making copies but not in order to try and deceive people but just to copy the design of a excellent knife but make sure you as a customer know that is exactly what they are doing. You’re buying a Green Thorn made model of a whatever make or model but they don’t try and bull💩people that it is the real thing. It is their own version of that company’s product which in some cases can indeed turn out to be if not as good but on the odd occasion even better. I hope this comment to you doesn’t sound or come across as any sort of attempt to attack you in anyway that is not my intention at all. I just think it’s a point that should be made more evident to your viewers. You have a great week ahead and hope you always have good health 👍🏼😘🫵🏻

@@Sanguivore Got the Temu Small Sebenza today. It's got a few differences from the real thing. The scales are brushed, where it's more of a sandpaper finish on the real thing. It's a clone of the Sebenza 21 where mine is a 31, so there's a few differences there like the angle of the clip and the guide hole on the show-side. I'm impressed by the action, it's very similar to the real thing. Lock-up is a bit different, it's almost silent and the frame lock is a bit flimsy. It's not very sharp at all.
@just9911
@just9911 8 дней назад
A massive part of why you buy a Spyderco knife is the top-tier heat treat. You aren’t going to get that with a fake. Hell, the clone probably isn’t even in the steel indicated on the packaging. Edit - if a person is only looking to collect pocket jewelry, these fakes would be adequate. But if you actually use your shit, you buy the real thing.
@BladesOnABudget
@BladesOnABudget 8 дней назад
Good points. These are definitely NOT the steel that is indicated on the blade! Everyone should be aware of that. In most cases they are 9CR18MOV or D2 steel. In some cases they can even be lower grade steel (8CR13 or even 5CR13).
@Sanguivore
@Sanguivore 7 дней назад
The average person isn't gonna be able to tell the difference between something like 9Cr and CPM S30V 'cos the average person isn't a steel nerd like we are and probably won't even try to sharpen their own knives. I'd wager most of the knives getting use out in the world are things like gas station knives and low-tier Gerbers. And not defending those knives, I'm just saying you're preaching to the crowd.

The MAIN THING you wont get on these Spyderco knockoffs is the SPYDERCO PIVOT BUSHING....the Spydie pivot bushing allows the knife to have that free swinging, drop shut, ball bearing action with the strength of bronze washers.
