I have two SPYPOINT cell cameras, the link evo and the micro. Have had the evo for 2 seasons and the micro for 1. For the money I like them and feel they do what they were designed to do. The only issue or complaint I would have with them is their cellular reception. Spy point does make a external antenna or signal booster that seems to work pretty well. The antenna comes with a 15 foot cord on it. I mounted my antenna to a 10 foot piece of conduit and ran the wire through the conduit to try to protect it from animals. I did this so I could stick the antenna higher up in the trees to get better signal. If you run the cameras off the internal batteries the more times you have it transmitting pictures throughout the day the faster it will run your battery down.
I have several of the Link-EVO cameras. I use them for security on the farm property in the city. It is good for picking up transients in real time wanting to camp or meet up. As for support the most effective is to go to the website and start a chat. Phone and email not good. The batteries last about 4 months depending on the activity. Overall very effective
I saw your chat and am looking to find and use cameras for the same thing at my farm. Which Link-EVO cameras do you have and which would you recommend different if any? I am looking at purchasing a couple link-s cameras. Do you know anything about them and if they are worth the extra cost? Do you know anything about the link-dark as well. Sorry for all the questions, just want to make the right decision before purchasing.
Take your card out and put it back in. Also make sure your card is formatted. I have three and they have low signal sometimes. I just pop the cards in and out and it usually fixes it
The temperature difference maybe where cameras is located. If you have it in open area, fields vs within the brush.... cooler in shaded brush areas. That would account for some temperature differences
Brian I found out if you secure it to a tree get response faster. You can move antenna up and down. 2 bars are good .It also records on your SD card. Verizon and ATT towers are different .check which co. has best signal. there are also signal booster you can add. Also SD card important ! (10) and under 32 gig. good view
So I fell in the rabbit hole looking for a specific format but somehow brought me to spy point cameras, so I was intrigued by the camera but more because the cellular capability so two videos prior real quick 1 minute 2 minute to start quick unboxing and that's it but yours more informative more educational and more understanding of it working but you're right red flag, with the cellular, however I just wanted to comment it has always been my dream to leave in the countryside in the woods, for the last 31 years out of my 38 years lived in San Francisco, but if I could swap to be out in the country I will do it in a heartbeat. My point keep on doing what you're doing brother enjoy the woods. Enjoy the freedom of nature. Because City life sucks anyways I know it's a little or not the docs but always remember how good or how bad we have it in life somebody would love to walk in your shoes I know goes without saying but you're blessed brother stay safe have a good day. And if you ever want to invite me out to the woods it'll be an honor to go thank you
When you turn the camera on and the status bar goes red it's preforming a update once it goes green and turns off to trigger the camera it will turn orange it's sending a picture. If it doesn't turn orange you know it either needs formatting or a firmware update or both. Once you understand how these cameras operate they work great for the money.
I recommend hooking up a 12 volt battery with a solar charger. That way you won't have to return to change batteries. I went ten months before I had to retrieve the full SD card otherwise I didn't need to service the unit.
Seems it flashes red if no signal..make sure you keep firmware up to date..my temperature is 10-15 less than it actually is also, but it does all I need it to do..SD card pics are much nicer than what it sends..been told it compresses image to send it..energizer lithium’s do best..I keep my sensor on medium..if you run it in high it will pick stuff up way off..more times than not when I get to looking you can find something thru the brush..today I got notification. With a guy in the picture and I was close by..made it there fast enough to make contact with him..usually gets the pic to me in 1-2 min when I keep it on send instant..
Update. I did get the camera to finally update in my house. I put it back out and it seems to be working as normal for now. I did check firmware and no recent updates
I noticed there are 2 sim cards stacked on each other behind the battery tray. One has spypoint logo and the other is AT&T. Is there a way to cut spypoint out as a middleman and just insert a sim card from a cell phone and just call into it with the number associated to the sim card we use?
So the camera sends pictures to a cellphone while also saving to SD card and it sends pictures through right away ? My friend has a food trailer in a food trailer park and people brake in through the backside there is trees on the backside I believe , even as a simple security camera inside or on top of the food trailer on pole / secured area pointed towards the door might make a difference .
You need to add the software update, I’m being picky, but you missed that set in the setup...I’ve got 3, they work well and are picking up animals from 20yds easy, and not any junk pics. The customer support is not good, language barrier issues. I left my comments in “USMC’S post”...but like you stated, $100 for a cellular camera, it does good...
The Comps- Brian Compton yea I bought one today. It’s pretty cool overall. Wish I could go in and see live view though but either way I still like it. I did get a notification today but there were no new photos so I’m not sure what happen there
@@thecomps-briancompton914 I have 4 of them. I mount mind vertically in tree(not problem better signal), using lithium batteries two cameras approaching 1yr battery and still at 95% on both.... very impressive to me. Take good pictures day/night. Wish could attach pic to show
These cameras are junk I have had over 10 of them and only 3 have worked like they are suppose to I have switched to muddy cellular camera and I like it so far. If anyone wants me to do a video on the muddy let me know.
Signal strength is telling you that your cellular signal is weak in your area, that's all its saying, when u get closer to a tower youll have better strength ….
My husband got his camera as a gift. He put it out, went back 2 weeks later and it had almost 14000 pictures of the same shot. We changed the settings and put it back out, 2 weeks later went back and it has 17000 pictures again of the same shot. It takes a picture every minute, I can't find any setting for motion detection. (Which is what it was supposed to be) I called and was sent this site to upgrade the firmware. What a pain in the butt. It's not a cell camera....it takes videos and still pictures. The only name on the camera is SolarDark, I was told if firmware update doesn't work you'll send a new camera. But if you don't sent the correct video for updating the firmware HOW CAN I UPDATE IT?????????????
Jeff Gibson it would have to be covert cameras. They are good all around. A little pricy but in my case, definitely worth it. I bought a spypoint link micro because it was on sale at a store near my home for 100$. I bought it and have bucks 10 yards away and can’t tell how many times they’ve got.
@@razorbowfishing5950 I have two SPYPOINT cell links attached to my game cameras. I have several different kinds of cameras. The cell link just send the pics to my phone.
Update. I had camera out in a different location and stopped sending me pics. There were pics in the Sd card but were not sending to phone. Going to try a reset and put it back out.
I'm not writing a book on how bad my experience with spypoint was but let it suffice to say I purchased 3 and all 3 worked fine for the first 6 months at which they all 3 quit working . Customer service couldn't function....got nothing resolved...end of story . I will never own another spypoint product again 🖕
I experienced the same thing. I had 2 questions, 1. What is the 12v DC current. They gave me the size of the adapter, and because of the language barrier I could not get them to understand. I even asked them what the output of their 12v battery systems...and they said, “yes 12v, don’t go over 12v”. 2. Was the app setup, they had no clue what I was asking...language barrier again, they could answer my question. But...camera is working great, picks up animals at 20yds...

WAIT TILL YOU TRY TO BUY A UNLIMITED PHOTO PLAN . IT WOULD NOT TAKE MY DEBIT CARD. IT WOULD NOT TAKE MY CREDIT CARD . I WENT TO WALMART AND BOUGHT A MASTER CARD GIFT CARD AND IT WOULDNT ACCEPT IT EITHER. WHEN YOU TRY TO CALL THEM THEY ARE IN CANADA AND TAKES FOREVER TO TALK TO SOMEONE, AND THEY WERE ABSOLUTLY NO HELP ...
These cameras are junk do not buy. They will not work for long even with updates formatting cards and so on. All 3 of mine stopped working at almost the exact number of days of use.
