Man Joseph's ability to make up entire series just so he can repeat random slightly funny bits is astounding

Full combo executed well, but lost to the biggest weakness of the deck. That has to be the best replay you could have picked for this deck. Showing representative games like this and talking almost more about the weaknesses than the strengths of a deck is exactly why you are becoming one of the most reliable and viable content creators for people taking their deck choices seriously. Did people just forget that period where Magicians Souls SPYRAL was tier 1 in 2020 with no firewall? Maybe we all just got PTSD from the secret slayers and dragon link formats that followed it.

I’ve made it to Platinum tier 3 with my go second SPYRAL deck. Having Master Plan back and three Resort has brought a tear to my eye.

Respect to you Joseph for actually showing a loss. Rather than just cherry picking the best game you got with the deck.

I know this is month's old, but for anyone checking out new comments after posting this, let me just say MBT was stuck in a sort of older Spyral build mindset where tri-gate wizard was worth it. Back when he made this video cards like Curious and Halqifibrax were legal and were much more powerful, and less resource intensive cards, that enabled more robust strategies than just Trigate apo sleeper pass. Even after Halq's banning, access to cards like Isolde and Union Carrier and all sorts of other cards are just going to be better than this. More importantly, he's running 6 upstart goblins -- which does help hard draw into souls and quik fix more consistently, but is a lot less robust than the Danger cards which synergize well with Spyral and Curious. And since this video cards like Small World have been released, which make the Dangers even better at hard searching Souls and Quik fix. Suffice to say, this isn't the fairest look at the deck. Spyral's a lot more powerful than what MBT showed here, and isn't particularly weak to board breakers. Oh and they put quik fix to 2 for some god forsaken reason. Not that I'm complaining.

Haven’t even seen the episode and I already can see Maxx “C” immediately ending at least one game.

I think in the anime they specifically refer to u-link as extra link (but it was executed too late in the series by revolver way after it was figured out in real yugioh)

I have to say, I don't really like this list. Playing so few SPYRALs makes you quite vulnerable if your first play gets stopped. The lack of handtraps and the lack of SPYRAL names also makes me think that going second this list just loses immediately. Chicken Game also feels a bit weird given that the deck already ends up accruing more resources than it could ever want (or use), and all it really does is try and get you more starters, which youll be lacking because you play fewer starters for more chicken games and Upstarts. Not being able to consistently Where Arf Thou also hurts a lot. This almost feels like an OCG SPYRAL list, except it doesnt have the Dark Magic Illusion that makes this style actually good.

note that its only legal in master duel, as in the history backstory joseph forgot to mention that after spyral died, it came back for a brief format when magicians souls came out, turning what was at the time, a small DM support card, into a chase item for meta players. pushing its price range up, and buying out ALL stock of the side set globally. eventually leading the the BAN of master plan, which switched off viability of the deck in the meta as souls became redundant in the deck.

I think spyral is a nice second deck for sky striker players, both share chicken game, terraforming, upstart, selene and accesscode. You can even play a striker package in spyral if you have the space.

I faced a Spyral player on MD ladder just before you uploaded this. They had shoved a small Sky Striker engine in to the deck for some unknown reason and their end board was 3 mat apo pass. As you might expect, they did not win.

Awesome! Do you think Shaddoll Invoked could be next? I'd love to see how they perform without DPE. Seems like "Winda Pass" is a good compromise in a format with Maxx C

Spyral was also the best deck before MR5 in January-March 2020

When ever people talk about spyral's it reminds me of how I played them on my friends stream with the first wave of support ( before they got totally broken ) I accidentally did that with like four or five differnt decks ( including the first wave of kozmos)

Sitting at Plat 3 rn with my old Spyral deck list. The only new cards I'm running are TTT, Selene, Apollosa and, Accesscode. Still rocking the Cerberus/Phoenix/Tri-gate/Helix/Sleeper board.

I watched all that just to see an evenly matched blow out activation

i dont feel like u really need parallel exceed in this deck. getting a free monster reborn is nice but running some hand traps instead seems like a better idea to me (+ free slot in extra deck). especially maxx c will help u with consistency and forces ur opponent to make a decision.

Just got started on Master Duel and have already put together a solid Fire Fist deck. Still learning how the deck works, but I’m having a lot of fun with it. So I’d be interested to see your take on Fire Fist, MBT.

I was literally not even 20 minutes ago looking at Spyrals in Master Duel for the first time and thinking "Huh. These can't be that bad."

If you want more omni negates on your endboard, you can also play Curious to end on a Savage dragon and a baronne.

I feel you built the deck too focused on going first and then said “this deck can’t go second.” Cutting the Upstart (why? Just why? It’s so bad… drawing handtraps or board breakers off it are essentially dead depending on what the opponent passes on e.g VFD). SPYRAL’s main strength compared to other combo decks IMO is that it’s very good at going second when built correctly, due to many of the inarchetype spot removal cards. I feel you just built “worse Drytron” here.

Tbh if you made a bored like that just make cerberus instead of double helix and ditch the trap. Iv been stormed so many times but did nothing because i had cerberus

A Spyral deck built correctly can play through multiple hand traps and doesn’t even need double helix to resolve. I won like 4 ots championships with 3 different Spyral lists( full power, knightmare, and souls). The deck can go first or second and it’s literally designed to go second. I think this list is shit, respectively lol

I have to disagree, Sheou is a great card. It's a negate and extension. What isn't great is that her home archetype isn't great at putting out more than just her and maybe one other thing turn 1. =P

One year later this is still all legal, now there are 2 quick fix, and people usually make curious to send a floodgate or appointer of the red lotus and then set it with knightmare gryphon. The deck is still very uncommon but when you see it you better hope you open droll and lock bird, one of the very few handtraps does something against this.

I know most of the cards are banned... but with the unlimited format for customs, I'd love to see a dragon ruler deck

5:00 Is Parallel eXceed supposed to be able to Chain Block? I've been playing it in Prank-Kids and it hasn't been able to Chain Block my kids getting Ash'd. ex. Link Summon Meow using a kid My only option for CL1 is the Prank-kid, then opponent has option to Ash CL2, and only at CL3 do I gain the option to use Parallel eXceed.

You Should make an update to this now that new cards are out for it.
