I am appalled by all those saying that the mix is awful. This is raw audio so that you can hear the drums themselves and they sound AMAZING. I really dig it when you have just the room mics, since this is kinda what I would hear from behind the kit. So, well done, Sonor. Wish I could afford those in the future!!!
Don't ever ignore his videos LOL he is a genius..... i know there are so many grown and advanced drummers like him, like Thomas Lang, Dave Weckl, Sony Emory and the likes, but to me Chris is an extra ordinary genius.
Absolutely superb drumming. The overall excellence of his accuracy, creativity, musicality, precise application of power and technical skills is stunning. Bravo (as usual)!!
Tilting the cymbals slightly away from yourself is a stroke of ergonomic genius. I just recently tried it and it is great. Easier to choke amd gives you a cleaner sound. Amazing.
Chris to me is like the Bruce Lee of drumming. Pure emotional content in his playing. Dig the black outfit. Enter the Dragon. Enter Chris Coleman. Don't think. Feel. It just hits by itself baby. Sonor has the future of drumming in hand. The most exciting player today.
Wow, fantastical! Has that powerful Billy Cobham/Dennis Chambers backbeat feel, with a little more of his own musical feel. Drums sound amazing as well, would totally buy this kit.
Blessed to have new content from Chris Coleman. Thanks Sonor, as big, big, big fan couldn't appreciate it more. Plus grateful to finally grab a pair of his signature sticks. Aaron B1001 😁...I didn't say I met him, I don't know him actually, I have just followed all his work just on RU-vid(Including watching every interview I could dig up) as him being a inspiration to play the drums. He just seems like an awesome musician and guy off the kit based off everything I've seen and heard simply here thru RU-vid. But it would make my life if I did see him in person. Believe me, I just keep on dreaming though
Aaron B1001 I know you enjoy it, Honestly once heard him talk about counting while playing really changed the game for me and opened up a new door for me, honestly I really want to school to study drums and percussion though
awesome drums. Played them and instantly knew it was my next gigging kit. Not sure this video brings it out, but the kick is killer, and the toms are a perfect blend of sustain, attack, and boom, w/o the long sustain. Perfect live drums. Nice job Sonor.
Yeah, that's the way people edit these days, they just follow trends, pasting these various angles in rapid succession without really grasping the concept of rhythm and timing, true professionals give the viewer time to take in and process what they are seeing, most of these videos are made by kids with fancy software, smh...
@@roneystapes except this video right? Cause the cuts were very much rhythmic. I agree though that there should've been more of a plot and an underlying movement instead of just...angles thrown at my face.
I watched Jimmy Rainsford's play through of this song, then came here. It's really quite interesting to see how two different, but equally amazing drummers approach the same track.
@@Joshstix95to have options. Depends on the song you're playing, or purpose of the video. Sometimes you want a Room heavy mix, other times you want a super dry and near field mix. If its a Company showcase, like this. They want to show the pure sound. If they would have used this video or audio to promote the song itself, then the drummix would've been mixed for that purpose.
I've played a Sonor kit for over 40 years.But I'm wondering who mixed the Sound track including the kit itself. Because when I hear a Sonor kit i want to actually hear the Sonor sound from the toms in particular. I'm afraid that I'm not hearing that from this Video. However i look forward to actually playing this model for myself because I'm due for a new one.
drummarr61 Agreed 100%, when showcasing a beautiful Sonor kit...it shouldn't be drown out by a backing track. I'd love an SQ kit but the wife said we can't sell the car.😉
Agree, drummarr61. Not to mention the fact that in this clip, Coleman is primarily playing SD, BD and cymbals. I wanted to hear much more from the toms...
lol okay? Perhaps we could say that same about your playing, though no one was questioning Coleman's playing. The dude is fantastic. What we are talking about is how we can't really hear the kit so it doesn't really accomplish the task of showing off the new line.
Dear Sonor, We love you but your mix sucks. The drums/cymbals should sound boosted and clean in the mix. We should be able to hear the cymbals and ghost notes clearly...they're almost inaudible. This is not Top 40, this is a showcase of your drums and one of the world's greatest drummers. Please throw out everything you know about mixing next time and do it right. Listen to the mix on Drumeo's RU-vid videos for reference. And the bass drum, it sounds like you were trying to snuff it out with a pillow...and I'd say you succeeded. That being said, please have Chris Coleman do a million more of these.
Great chops. Why in the last several years has it been popular to tilt your cymbals at an angle up and away from the correct angle? Not I’ve only been a drummer singer songwriter for 36 years, however every lesson I’ve ever had each instructor explained not only will you not crack or break your cymbals but sticks as well. It in no way changes the sound of the cymbals. Best of luck to you in all your future endeavors.
so obviously that was the sickest drumming I've seen all week, but the hi hats made almost no noise. I dunno if that was a mixing thing or a meinl thing but it would have been cool to have just that roaring, all out attack that I'm sure we all would have heard if we were there.
its sonor for an American audience i think is the marketing idea with the names and colors and birch high-endedness of it nice kit but id take most of the previous years kit models over it if i was spending money they excite me these do not. its probably the best birch option but for new sonor money im getting beech or thin maple. i wish they'd do an exotic walnut /maple/ walnut for the 3 plies then that would have been crazy! im very into the delite shells with the birdeyes sound or the Newport or Nussbaum sound second. dont get me wrong this IS an amazing sounding kit but so is the birch infinite and recording custom ;) good job anyways sonor all the product is generally superior to most companies ( i love the new tama star and phx and george way/craviotto kits but would buy a used delite all day long if i were spending money and save the remaining difference in price!)

They don't work for me on a sound level based on the audio that has been available so far. But if you care to re-read my reply, you'll see I have caveated that with, " I would like to hear them in the flesh"! No need to be so defensive, it's all very, very subjective. Just to ad, perhaps you'd care to read a few more of the choice replies concerning these new drums below and ask similar questions, as I fail to see why mine has struck a chord!

Really, well I'm touched mate that as a "company/family" you care so much, although as a hardened cynic, I find that difficult to believe, but I'll take you on your word. :-) These are the positive and negative aspects of the internet and audio, as it can distort the true essence of the shell and so give the "wrong" impression potentially. I suppose you also have to take into account other brands that have been making classic Birch shells for a very long time, and so it's going to be a hard contest to convince otherwise. Good luck :-)
