Wonderful job. I personally wasn't to use this to make a tiny Accordion for a stop-motion animated character. Thank you for your thorough instructions.

Hello 911logic I have to tell you that you have just made my day, ... I was made redundant as a consequence of Covid-19 a few months ago and have had a number of rejections in my quest for work. After a while you begin to feel that you have nothing to offer anyone. To receive such praise at this time, is very much appreciated, so a very big "THANK YOU" is winging its way back to you!! All the best wishes that you succeed in your craft projects! Stay safe. Sally

Oh that's great news! They can be a little tricky to fold at the start, but it's so satisfying when that concertina begins to form!! Thanks so much for the update ... I couldn't be more thrilled!!! 😁 (What a toothy grin that is!!) All the best wishes Sally

Hello Russell Puryear Thank you so much for the positive feedback which is very much appreciated. I am so sorry that it has taken me such a long time to respond to you, my life is going through a very busy spell. By the way, Google have changed the rules and although I have worked hard to build my channel they are now dictating that you have to add a video regularly, in order to monetise a channel and unfortunately, now that I work full time, this is not an option so I am planning to use my videos elsewhere and this channel will be taken down, along with my website. If you want to retain the instructions for the bellow fold, do download the .pdf file whilst it is still available on GryphonArt.co.uk. Very best wishes Sally

Excellent. That's the clearest and most helpful set of instructions I've seen to date - and I've looked at a LOT of bellows videos! Can I offer a tip I saw on another video? At 32:00 where you're about to join the two sides, how about putting a piece of wood down the centre of the work and folding the sides in onto it? This would form a surface for you to press the two edges together against and prevent glueing the inside of the work. I shall try this tomorrow and then on to your graduated bellows video which is what I need for my camera restoration. Thank you for all of your hard work - it's been a pleasure learning a new skill. Edit: So it's tomorrow and I've just folded my first bellows! It's a bit rough and ready but it worked! I found that as I progess in the final assembly it was as if the bellows knew what it was doing and almost sprang together by itself. Gives me condfidence to progress on to the graduated bellows (after a few more tries) but, as with all "origami" projects, do you ever wonder at the ingenuity of the first person who made one of these?

Hello Jeffrey I am so sorry that it has taken me a little while to respond to your kind message and to thank you for your insights which are useful. It has been a while since I have needed to create a bellows fold, but if the need arises, I will take on board your comments. I would also add, that I found that if you creased the folds well, then the bellows seemed to sort themselves out with minimum guidance as you found for yourself. Additionally, it certainly has astounded me that someone has or had, such a creative mind that they have been able to come up with these designs and solutions!! All the best wishes for successful projects. I hope that you managed to find time to give the graduated version a try ... it's quite surprising what a different approach is required. Happy creativity Sally

Excellent! What kind of waxed card are you using? I can recommend that clamping before/while gluing can make it easier. I use a clothes peg at each end or you could use a bulldog clip.

Thank You - I watched your video and used your template reduced in size to 6"x4" to attempt to create a miniature bellows for a miniature studio view camera. I pasted the template to black paper and scored the lines as shown. Attempting to fold the paper became too frustrating. I cutout each of the four sides and folded them into matching valleys and mountains. I then pasted the adjoining sides to black fabric. Presto the paper remembered the folds and on gluing the fabric edge to the inside of the template I formed without any difficulty a beautiful cloth covered black bellows 30mms square and approx 40mms long. Now to make the 'working' view camera with lens and focus screen.

Hi Bill, it sounds as though you have got an interesting project in progress and I am glad that in some small way, you found the video useful although I can well imagine the problems that you would have experienced on a smaller scale. The folding can be tricky even at the original size. All the best with the rest of the outstanding work. Sally

Hey this is helpful! I wonder if this could be done by a thin plastic sheet in order to make it waterproof!!??
@GryphonArt
@GryphonArt 4 года назад
Hello Chahat Gupta Thank you so much for taking the time to comment and ... that's an interesting "outside the box" kind of thought process :o) If there was a way of creasing the plastic, I would definitely say that you are onto something. Maybe a warm iron might the the solution. I will leave the experimenting to you, but please don't hesitate to let me know how it goes. All the best Sally

I believe the longer folds should be on the outside
@GryphonArt
@GryphonArt 3 года назад
Hi Joey I confess that it has been a number of years since I have needed to make one of these bellows and if I had to do so again, then I would probably need to follow the instructions or watch the video 🙄. Having quickly studied the downloadable .pdf document and looked at the end of the video, I think that you will find that the longer folds are valley folds and therefore sit inside the bellows. If you look at the video at around 27:42 minutes, this might make things clearer for you. Hope that helps and that you have great success with your project. Sally

it looks to me that the hexagonal one is much easier to make?
@GryphonArt
@GryphonArt 4 года назад
Hi GraphicMan Innovations Thanks so much for being in touch ... it's always lovely to receive feedback of any sort. I would say that in my opinion the square bellows fold is actually easier than the hexagonal bellows fold, which is more resistent to the folds, but it is quite a long time since I have created either of these folds, and I guess different people find different things easy :o) I have noticed that you have also made a comment on the hexagonal bellows video and I will have a look at this for you tomorrow and try and provide an answer. It is quite late here in England, so my mind is not in the right place to try and tackle this tonight ... please forgive the delay. Thanks for watching the videos and for your comments which are appreciated. All the best wishes for success with whatever project you are working on. Sally

Thanks a lot for your prompt reply I also have another important question which is why the compressible area has to make a right angle? I was thinking that making it with a smaller angle will result in bigger difference between the bore and OD diameter which in return will help the bellow to compress rather than curve on longer bellow, I hope that you get my point, please confirm whenever u can, thanks:)

Hello GraphicMan Innovations I'm beginning to think that you have much more of an engineering mind and capability than I do. I regret that I am more "arty" and aesthetically driven than I am technical, so I'm not sure if I am going to be able to help you in this instance. Unfortunately I am not quite sure what you mean. If it is the stability of the shape on a longer bellows, are you thinking that a graduated bellows which has a larger section on the base of the fold than on the top fold, is more suitable. If I can understand your question, I will try to provide an answer. All the best. Sally

Unfortunately I am a detail person ... if I don't give out all the information then I might not be understood and people end up wasting their time and materials on an unsuccessful project.
