Bro okay so I'm 15 and I REALLY want to restore my great grandpa's 1985 GMC Sierra and the fuel pump is what I need thank you a lot I'm ready to do this now! 😄
Nice try. Just the deep well socket to do the job with a wrench. You forgot to tell them to plug the fuel lines with a bolt to prevent the tank from draining. You only use one gasket, the other is a spare. Often two or more gaskets are sent incase the same pump fits different blocks.Instead of a saws all blade, use a hacksaw blade. You cross threaded that last fitting .It will leak fuel.
Just a future truck to holding that pushrod, theres a 9/16 bolt just behind the fuel pump on the front of the block,i think its like an oil plug. take that out and put in a longer bolt untill it just snugs on that pushrod. do this before you remove the pump so you know its in its perfect position. then remove the pump and replace. Saves you time from messing with the pliers
You can use one of the bolts that holds the pump on too. Take one of pump bolts out and leave the other tight remove the closest bolt to the pump from front of the block. Put pump bolt in till it's snug. Remove pump and reverse steps for install. If rod falls anyway just push back up with finger and tighten bolt untill rod stays in place
Hello from Germany. May I ask you something? I drive a c10 Stepside from 1987. Engine 5700. Fuel injection. Since a couple of months the engine goes of while I drive. Only when driving less then 30mph . For example, if I go to an intersection and go off the gas. The engine then restarts again directly. I have already changed the idle air and imap. No improvement. You have any ideas? Maybe also the fuel pump? Thanks a lot for your help. Ciao Pino
I am replacing the pump on my 86 C20 and the new pump comes with a spacer plate that goes between the new pump and the block. Any idea what that spacer plate is for? I have never seen one before? Thanks
Spacer plate blocks off oil him when replacing it leave the plate bolts a little lose then put the pump in and line it all up helps out alot annnnd the push Rd stayed jn place for me i plunged the inserted end into valvoline heavy greas left glob on the tip and it stayed veefy well over night actually lol
Thanks for the video! I noticed that the replacement has 3 ports, my previous fuel pump only had 2. What's the purpose of the third? What did you do to it?
1 Is a line that gives you gas from tank, smaller line is return line back to gas tank, 3rd metal line goes to carb. Older ones I believe never had a return line to the gas tank.
Al Mor take the fuel like off from the pump to carb and blow it out. If that didn’t work, put a rubber line on the pump and put the other end in a jerry can and try. If that works then that means a fuel like from the tanks to the pump is plugged
YOU DID NOT SHOW THE ACTUAL INSTALL. Why not ? Does your procedures not work so good ? My guess is you are pretending :) Or needed to clean off the blood from your knuckles too often.
Well you clearly didn’t watch the whole video. I can only use one hand while filming with my IPHONE. If you watched the whole video you’ll know I explained how to get the push rod up. This is a easy job and maybe if you spent less time commenting how to hold your hand while you do a easy job you’d learn how to it yourself.
