Hi Jan great video as usual from you. I just wanted to say something about Mels Mix, it says to use Vermiculite which is ok if you live in a relatively dry area but if you live somewhere where you get more rain than sun like me, then it's best to use Perlite instead, i saw it on RU-vid in a gardening video somewhere so i hope that's right. Hey Barry! Yes perlite is a good substitute for vermiculite. It can be better in dry areas who knows I didn't test it. I use perlite and I don't have complaints but this could be a good start for a test... Perlite vs vermiculite 😊

Yes zucchini are huge but you can grow them in a 2x2 area. This year I will trellis them and see if I can squeeze even more zucchini in the same space 😂

Thanks for your videos .i redesign my garden using sqr foot pattern,much better ,i dont have much sun ,only 5 hrs a day cause its sorrounded by fences garage and the house ,but its ok ,the sun here in sydney its very strong .

You can grow all year round can you? Growing cold hardie plants that don't need much sun 😊 growing tomatoes with 5 hours I can imagine it can be a challenge

Thanks for all the tips. Now, a request: Could you give the temperature in C as well? I think every country (except the US) goes by C degrees. I live in Canada and we went with the rest of the world back in 1975 for temperatures-other dates for distance, volume, etc. I can remember a few of the key F/C equivalents, but not many😏. Many thanks!

Will do. I am sorry I didn't do it already (I know I am lazy) since in my country we also use the metric system. But more than half of the viewers comes from the US but yes I am leaving the other half dry... Will correct it!

Hi! Can you tell me how many seeds to drop into each hole? For example, I'm planning on direct sowing okra which needs 1 square foot to itself. Do I simply drop 1 single seed into the hole? What if it doesn't germinate? Thank you in advance!

At around 7:30 you have burried pots, for watering i assume, how does it work? And do they have holes at the bottom?

I realize you posted this two years ago so this reply may not be useful, but you should look up ollas. They're unglazed clay jugs or pots that get buried in the soil, filled with water, and capped or covered to stop evaporation. The water slowly seeps out through the clay, providing moisture to the roots of your plants. You then simply refill them as needed. Ollas are popular in hot, dry climates where watering from the surface results in a lot of inefficiency due to evaporation, but they work anywhere. However, if you live in a cold climate you'll want to remove them from your garden in the winter or they will freeze and break.
