The Squarejig adds the square grinding feature to a standard round grinder with no modifications to the grinder. It simply clamps into place and is ready to grind chain. Square ground chain is one of the oldest methods of sharpening a chainsaw chain, yet it is still the fastest cutting chain to date.

@@williamwallace9620 how long would it take you to go through a rollof 500' chain? i feel like you need to have $2500 invested in chains before you spend 500 bucks on a grinder lol

It's very nice to know I only can buy the gauge I only use and not waste my money buying what I don't need and is not required!!!

@schlomoshekelstein908 I agree, use to work for a tree service that just bought new chains and they made it work. I took a bunch of their used chain.

i think square grinding is hands down the fastest way to cut ,but i checked this square jig out and does it really need to cost even half of that. Lets be real if it came with the grinder then yes that would be reasonable but im sorry a small triangular piece of metal does not cost anywhere near 320 dollars even if its precisely made by cnc there just no way to justify spending that much on something that probably only costs a few dollars to make.
@squarejig
@squarejig 5 месяцев назад
Hi Dustin, This is precision made with domestic stainless and cnc machining in the USA. It does cost a lot to make. Would you be interested in a non stainless version at a lower price?
@JoshNoss
@JoshNoss 3 месяца назад
@@squarejigI'd be interested in one made from even something like Mild Steel or aluminum or something as long as it's still solid and accurate if it'd reduce the price 40-50% I understand there's a TON of overhead and costs in a project like this especially starting out but I'd bet that you'd probably triple sales with a lower cost jig. It's hard for many lower-income folks to justify spending more than it's costs for a grinder just to get a jig to achieve a better tooth shape. I'd bet that people would pretty much quit buying the current variety however

I built one out of 10 gauge sheet metal 4 in squair cut in half at a angle 2 bolts 2 nuts and 2 washers for in-between the triangle cut plates washers need to be a little thicker than your drive links

Have you been able to test it with the Stihl USG ?
@squarejig
@squarejig Год назад
Hi Ivan, I haven't used a Squarejig with the USG yet. I'll look around for one to test.
@squarejig
@squarejig Год назад
Ivan, I found a local True Value that might have one in their Stihl department. I'm heading up there now to see if they'll let me use it.
@squarejig
@squarejig Год назад
I was able to look at the Stihl grinder and it appears to have all of the adjustments required to make the square ground cut with the Squarejig but I wasn't able to use it to verify 100%. It may have a clearance issue or something not seen. I'll continue my search.
@squarejig
@squarejig Год назад
Ok I was able to extensively test the USG and it does not work in an easy to use way. So finally no the USG does not work without modification. If the usg had a left to right adjustment it would be the perfect machine.

Hi David, I did try one. I wish it did work. It requires modification to create consistency on left and right hand cutters.
