Thanks for this -- I was hoping there was a way to offer a downloadable freebie without paying for the Email Campaigns add-on to send an automated email! The interface to set this up has changed a little since Squarespace changed to the Fluid Engine editor, but it still works like a charm. Much appreciated!
@@thebusybee-megan Actually...now that I tried doing this, I found that the option to upload a pdf and store into squarespace is not available to me. Not sure why
@@lesliewallace-munce4474 Hmmm. You may be using Squarespace's new 7.1 version. Here's how you can check: support.squarespace.com/hc/en-us/articles/115005308187-What-s-my-site-s-version-and-template
Thank you so much for this. I am wondering if you have found any capacity in the connection between SS and MC to have a tag added to that client, so you know that they have downloaded that freebie, or so that it could trigger an automation. Thank you!
Hey, Mollie! The best workaround I've done is to create a separate list for those subscribers in MC which you can then select within SS. I know that's not the best long-term solution (especially if you have a ton of subscribers) but it's free and works in a pinch! There may be a "zap" that you can create in Zapier that will trigger that specific flow and tag generation for you, but I'm not sure of all of those capabilities. Worth looking into!
@@thebusybee-megan Thanks for your help. I'm trying to streamline a bit but finding it hard to replicate some strategies I have used. I'll check out Zapier as an option. Thanks again.
This is amazing, thank you. What would be the best way to handle multiple downloads? ie a "free resources" page where people can pick and choose which items they're interested in. From a user perspective, I feel it would be a pain to enter your email for each item you want.... is there a way around this do you think?
So glad you found it helpful, Katie! The best way (in my opinion) to handle multiple downloads is actually to create a Products page that's just dedicated to freebies. All of the products would be $0 but that way users can add multiple freebies to their cart and then "checkout". You still receive their email address and it's only 1 form to fill out for them instead of many!
this is very helpful, wondering how I can get the people who enter their emails to go to my squarespace email subscriber list though, their email just came to me but I'd like it to automatically go to my subscriber list, is that possible?
So glad it was helpful, Corinne! To connect to your Squarespace email subscriber list, head to the "Storage" tab of the lightbox that pops up when you edit the block, and click "Squarespace Email Campaigns" to connect it!
Hey, Sarah! Thanks so much for your kind words :) The Mailchimp integration is what Squarespace calls a "Premium Feature," meaning it's only available in their Business + Commerce plans. As an alternative to Mailchimp (if you don't have a Business or Commerce plan), you can use Squarespace's Email Campaigns feature to send emails directly from your site! You can find more about that right here: support.squarespace.com/hc/en-us/articles/360001280588
Hi i love your videos they are so easy. But I'm on 7.1 and when I click on add link, it only gives me an option to add a link and not add a file. what can i do here? thank you
Hey, Lucy! Thanks for your kind words :) If you click on that settings cog icon next to the field where you'd add in your url (also kind of looks like a sun), you'll have an expanded view of different links you can add, including files!
