Square orbits not only possible in real life, but also totally doable in the modded Kerbal Space Program. Distant Retrograde orbit and Principia, here we go!
Took some time to make this video happen, "KSP2 burnout" is here. Mod setup in this video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-g4StdIazOFE.html Principia for n-body interactions: github.com/mockingbirdnest/Principia note: Parallax do break Laythe in Principia.
@@superkobster Honestly its extremely worth it, if i remember correctly its like 4 euros and it changes everything, it turns flying in planes from not really fun to one of the coolest experiences ever
How cool is it that there are such enthusiasts on the Internet who recreate such complex, and there is something incredible here at all:Lagrange points!
AFAIK Principia is not a one-man job, also it's an academic work apparently (the actual academic subject in question being calculus more than astrophysics), much like e.g. Orbiter.
Ty so much! Partreon is no longer available in my country of residence. Only extra support tool atm are YT superstickers. I am still hesitant to roll out YT memberships for now. I would be experimenting with Satisfactory and Valheim videos aside KSP stuff this summer. There is not really a lot of things going for KSP atm and viewership numbers in last 2 month declined like 5 times. The whole KSP on this channel ballooned from several backburner projects similar to what I have for Satisfactory or Valheim atm! xD If it works and people enjoy more mixed gaming stuff then I would consider punching membership jam.
Ya know, choosing PAR - aligns your docking port with the target's, so you only have to focus on the x and y, then go towards the port. Locking roll lets you align perfectly.
accidental kraken drives are the most frustrating thing for me in orbital games, is there a mod that can like, stop all forces except for engines? i mostly play Juno:New Origins, but if theres one for KSP maybe i can figure out how to ask for it better i once had a physics bug or kraken drive that made it basically impossible to de orbit onto a planet with an atmosphere, as soon as the air density went up, it had such a strong force pushing me out, that it basically infinitely bounced me out of the atmosphere, and because physics is forced when you enter an atmosphere, i literally had to hack my velocity slow me down and force me in
Your rant about very different civilizations evolving around moon and home planet reminded me of the Seveneves book. Its hard sci-fi, pretty good book, check it out if you haven't already.
Hey there! Quite a while back, I asked you to review Infinite Discoveries and you answered, but RU-vid being RU-vid, they randomly deleted my comment for some reason. I'm just wondering if you have an ETA on it? Thanks man. Also, amazing video, and RU-vid randomly unsubscribed me for some reason.
Hey, yeah yt can be weird with repeating comments... At the moment production for following KSP videos is postponed: Infinite Discoveries, interstellar tutorial, immersive mods and laythe sea snake base. Probably at least until Autumn. Reality is that KSP viewership declined 5 times in the last 2 months. And while my last videos have better metrics than a lot of 50k+ videos, they fail to gather above 10k views. And this is nowhere near to justify 40-60 hour production for complex videos about mods and stuff. There would be one more KSP video before I dabble back into Satisfactory for at least 3-5 videos for now. There are some awesome ideas that I never realized a year ago!
It is fine, YT is pretty fair when it comes to this. My last 7 videos pulling out more returning viewers than new ones. While it is great sign and YT usually match that number with influx of new people... well it is not the case for KSP atm. People just moved on for now.
I think principia is just CPU intensive or something so it's gonna be laggy no matter what. Keep in mind that 3-body gravitation is orders of magnitude slow to calculate than 2-body.
Generally I find it isn't laggy if you set things up properly for what you are doing. Principia can calculate trajectories with an accuracy of 1 mm but you don't need that when going interplanetary for example, so turning the tolerance up to 1 km lightens the load and allows you to plot far into the future without much performance loss. You'll want higher precision when docking, but you won't plan a docking hundreds of days in the future, so you can shorten the plan length.
Community part titles and Community part titles extras: categories do a great job with rearranging thigs, but its not as KSP2 for sure. It is possible to mod extra categories into the game as those mods do, but I did not saw a KSP2 replica yet.
the olast part orbiting around and not being able to zero the closure velocity has happened to me with no mods in the past. I just kept reloading and eventually it worked I have no clew to this day why it happened. I even made a video and was getting retarded answers like the two parts were accelerating at each other because abjects with mass attract. I was like you mean you can never match velocity between two ships because their tiny masses makes the accelerate toward each other lol.
Nope. My native language is Russian. Found myself confusing Portugeese speakers with Russian speakers several times now on English YT btw! Solo hablo un poco de Español, tho. xD
Ksp2 shouldve had enough optimization to allow better graphics and n body interaction. The devs talked so much trash about how janky ksp1 is and how well optimized their foundation of ksp2 would be and we got nothing I have no hope for ksp2 anymore
@@7e21 There's also the minor issue that the Jool system would rapidly destroy itself (the moons are not stable), unless the bodies were kept on rails and thus forced to obey different gravity rules from the spacecraft, which would be a bit weird. I suppose another option would be to have a rearranged system for nbody gravitation.
Bro ok this is a cool video but you're just blatering nonsense for most of the video and it's not pleasant. Nothing wrong with filling the silence with some music but to me it's just jarring. Please take this as constructive criticism.
I have to be honest man its hard to watch these videos when every single video we have to get down about KSP 2. I understand why you're disappointed and yes its bad business but when the only thing i ever hear from gamers is seething rage that every game isnt launched in a perfect state it makes me worry the greedy people who RUN THOSE DEV TEAMS and overwork them, are going to give up at EVER making a functional game and instead just giving up on the project all together. I'd rather wait for some coding team who i don't personally know take their time to deliver something good when their boss demands they do the impossible rather than not have the game at all. again it's fine to be dissappinted and upset at bad business practices but can we not make a huge stink about it every single time to the point where no one in the community can enjoy themselves anymore?
I have been managing teams of 20+ ever since 2015. Overworking your employees is conscious decision coming from the top and it is not a business necessity by any means. In the end of the day it is only great for top management with their yearly bonus and pretty financial report. It is true even for such a low profit business like hospitality. I could not really do anything with this, hell in my area even unionizing is not an option...
@@Yakez42 I’m not saying that’s a necessity either it’s awful it just feels like you’re pushing a lot of blame on a dev team for an over ambitious corporate suits
@@patrickbrooks6578 why does everyone pretend the dev team is completely innocent in this? They had so many years to make a good game and in the end all we got is a barely working version of ksp 1. It doesn't matter how well you manage the team, if the dev team is unskilled and lazy (which seems like they are) nothing will ever get done. The game has barely 100 players per day for Christ's sake, that should tell you how horrible the dev team is. How the hell is sons of the forest pumping out full blown game overhauls every 2 weeks but ksp cant even add re rentry after like 4 months with a much bigger dev team.
People aren't pissed because KSP 2 isn't perfect, that is a strawman argument. People are rightfully pissed because a large studio has (yet again btw) released a $50 game so broken that it is honestly a pain to watch plays of it, let alone be the poor sods who have to play it. This isn't an isolated case either, AAA is dumping horseshit after horseshit and the gamer simps are eating it up. I could count on one hand the AAA titles in the past two years that have been the intended experience on launch day. The indies and the smaller studios are doing a great job for the most part while the corporates are getting outdone by one man modder teams 😂
@@mechwarrior83 I work in an electronics store to say gamers are eating it up wouldn’t be correct at all when I’ve been stuck listening to a bunch of whiny man children for years at this point. I’m not saying a any of your reasons to be upset are truly wrong but you’re making the environment so constantly upset about something or another that for people who have to work in this shit like me the negativity is inescapable. It’s not a straw man argument if I literally talk to real humans on the regular who are upset every single time and yet preorder when it’s a game that’s special to them. I’m tired of that negativity and it’s why I can’t watch your content anymore, I perfectly understand why ksp 2 is a let down and why the makers have failed I just don’t need it explained like I’m a 4 year old every 30 seconds
