I'd like to know something. How in the hell, do a man or a woman pay for a house and someone comes along and move in without consent and damn near legally owns the house? This country, well this happens everywhere, but in particular, this country needs to get real with the legal system. People are going to jail for months for stealing socks from Family Dollar while the legal system allows a person to take control of an estate that is not theirs. Don't lash out on the squatters. Lash out on the government. They allowed this to happen.
Because it's not actually that unfair to the landlord. I believe it takes a couple of months in order to evict people from your property as a landlord. The minimum requirement for adverse possession is for the squatter to stay there for 5 years. That means a landlord must have neglected a property for at least 4 years + a few months before realizing they're property was being squatted on. Even then, they could probably evict the squatters before time runs out and adverse possession becomes a real threat. If you're a landlord and you own a property. And that property has gone unnoticed, not generating rent, not being checked up on, not being maintained (because if you had been doing regular maintenance the maintenance people would have discovered the occupancy), then yeah that property is effectively abandoned. I don't really see how you can argue otherwise. Keep in mind, the squatter has to live there openly, while the landlord has knowledge of the situation. It cannot be hidden but be "notorious". If as a landlord you know about the issue 2 years in, and neglect to do anything about it for another 3, the property obviously doesn't really matter to you. As the video says, the government would prefer people who live in the property legally own it than a landlord whose been absent for so long. If you were a landlord, would you seriously let a property sit vacant for 5 years with no rental income while knowing theres people living there the entire time? Or even sending a contractor to maintain it and checkup on it once a year? You have to be extremely negligent to let things get this far.
@@HelloMoto1991 Well, yeah. There is hell to pay, but ultimately, I blame the law makers of the legal system. Stealing is a crime and many people goe to jail or even getting comfronted by law enforcement under "reasonable suspension" just to sniff them out of spite yet someone can take a house, and manipulate the law where they can fully own it, sale it, live there or get evicted only to do it all over again without out undergoing any jail time or fines? As you can see I am very passionate of this topic.
I feel like it's better to be a squatter than a homeowner at this point. Jeez, the rights given to these squatter. Its like they're given rights to a criminal. What ever happen to protection of property.
All foreclosed properties owned by Bank and not maintained properly should be invaded by Squatters. That is the only instance when I would be fine with those bastard squatters.
You evidently aren't in the California real estate market right now.... Prices are going up up-and-up it's a seller's market..... Some people buy 650K homes.....SIGHT UNSEEN!!! I know this for a fact because I'm in the market.... Houses I could even get appointments to are already off the market.... All cash offers some of them. But don't get me wrong.... The prices here are way over inflated..... And some people are gonna take a big hit..... .
@@1superduck CA home sales have been dropping for the past three years, FL e.g have gone up. Also CA did 400k sales barely last year, prices are overly inflated and still going up. CA has many cities undergoing lockdowns, protests, riots, and all that liberal fuckery. It's not doing anyone any favors. You judge the future of a whole economic sector based on a catalog showing high priced houses being sold quickly? No wonder single family parties are leaving CA. You know what else more conservative states have that draws future home owners? Laws that actually protect the landowner and not squatters......sorry... trespassers
@@1superduck You are completely wrong. Many people are fleaing the State due to extremely high taxes. More people are moving out of the state. Then moving in. Of course prices are rising. Only because of increase of property and salt taxes.
@@alexhunter6141 There is no shortage of buyers in CA....absolutely none. It doesn't matter how many people leaveing......we have enough....Cops, fire fighters , city workers utility workers, corporate jobs are doing just fine.........were competing against 30 to 50 year olds to buy a home.....there may be people leaving but they are from different job classes not as stable........and along non citizen buyers and flippers.......these prices aren't going anywhere....some will price correct ......but most will stay....so finding that "deal"....might be hard.. Oh....and i'm closing escrow on friday.....so I DO have first hand knowledge of these so cal market.....not speculation or wishful thinking...
@@1superduck As you say this. Homelessness and poverty in California is at an all time high. Middle class is fleaing the State in record numbers. So please tell me who is buying all these homes? Many more people are trying to sell then buy. Barley any new residents are moving there from out of state. Nobody wants to live in California anymore. Because nobody can afford it. Except the elite rich. Lot of these homes are vacant or been on the market for a very long time. And the amount of homes for sale proves it.
There are squatters below me...and we are ALL so fkn tired of them. Parties every 3 days. Fighting, screaming, smoking, door slamming, etc. I’ve seen a few roaches in my unit & I wouldn’t doubt they’re coming from them.
@@guitarofdestiny nah just provoke them into attacking you and get it all on camera problem solved, although I reckon if you show up the house with a bunch of rough cunts and tell em to fuck off most squatters would probably leave
Physical approach is too obvious -- would be so much more fun freaking them out. Assuming I still had key access to (my) house, I would carefully conceal speakers in the attic that would emit ghostly sounds at night. Maybe put some radio actuated mechanical "tapers" to tap inside the walls. Yep -- make them think the place was haunted. Grew up watching too much Scooby Doo. 🤣
When you say occupants can not share occupancy does that mean you cant have a family or children and it has to be one person? To meet the requirement of adverse possession
This is just another reason to leave CA! Renting a property in CA is a nightmare as well We sold 3 homes to get the hell out, and moved to a Republican state, where our liberties and rights are upheld as homeowners and private citizens. It’s nice to know you also have a right to shoot trespassers.
These laws are antiquated at best criminal complacency and a complete violation/abuse of taxpayers at worst. An absolute disgrace these “laws” are adhered to despite rampant misinterpretation and abuse that stems from these situations.
Yea unfortunately NONE of these things prevents these squatters in places like California. And dealing with the court system, especially in California, is an absolute joke. Solution? Don't live in that horrible state until they put intelligent politicians in charge, which seems like it's never going to happen.
@@goodlifepropertymgmt soooo what happens when they stop paying and it all gets cut off...this is all absolutely ridiculous. These laws need to be change already. We have the concept of Deeds, Mortgages, property taxes, and utilities payments. They all make it PRETTY clear who OWNS a property. The squatter has and does NONE of this. They are trying to abuse rental homes. If a county/state wants to make sure properties are maintained we already have tons of legal methods for this. There are local municipality laws you must follow (grass cut, trash, structure integrity of the home). You can condemn a property. Eviction notices can be issued. Banks can seize properties and resell them. This is such a simple issue to solve yet California refuses to because you have a bunch of idiots running the state.
@@shitpostcentral1802 tf do you think you’re fighting… a persons right to change their hair color? She’s not even saying she believes they should have rights she’s literally just explaining what they are.
@@itsofficialb I get what you’re saying, but they shouldn’t be able to steal it from you. If you’ve paid money for the property, let’s say $200,000… someone shouldn’t be able to steal your $200,000 investment.
I'm squatting an abandoned house homeowner is in China been gone since 2020 I have not lied to anyone and have been paying the property taxes I cleaned up all graffiti and have build relationships with neighbors they are fully aware and see no issue
