Seen them late 80’s 🤔 I think their popularity had waned a bit but they came to Liverpool and were visibly taken back at the reception..humble guys but incredibly talented and one of my all time favourites, great memories 😎
"My assets froze while yours have dropped". Not hard to see why they were called the next Lennon/McCartney by many critics of the day. Love that economic, but tight guitar solo.
@@automotivel3501 I thought GIlson was the drummer until at least '83? I see Pinterest photos of him in '85. Looks like the same guy who played in Black Coffee in Bed video. Next guy would have been Pete Thomas. Google says he didn't come onboard until '93. No sour grapes with Jooles. He left to pursue a solo career in '81 and was replaced with Paul Carrack. Carrack is a monster of a musician. I'd have to say it was a good move for everyone involved. But hey, different strokes right?
In that era (early to mid-80s) we were hearing English bands on the radio constantly! It's no secret why, they rocked!! The quality of the sound is amazing.
Brilliant. Finally got to see them recently and can't wait to see Chris' solo show in Brum soon. Get his autobiography folks it's an eye opener. Shocking that some random unknown bank owns some of the rights to all their earlier songs and they dont have any ownership rights. And it's still going on today with Taylor Swift.
Nobody does solos better than Mr Tilbrook. Check out Pinoccio, Wrong Side of the Moon, In Quintessence, Another Nail in My Heart... list goes on forever
Oh Steve !! Thanks for making me feel SO old !! Hahaha X What a wonderful band Squeeze is !! And the prize THIS time for he coolest dude in the band goes to.... Chris Difford !! Those glasses !! The lineup with John Bentley and Paul Carrack is truly a winning combination X
I've seen many live bands my bucket list this is the only group that's sounds better now seen them in Bournemouth Glen and Chris utter respect to you guys the best
Rare Paul Carrak sighting on piano, since he was with the band for about "15 minutes." Long enough to sing the amazing opening verse of "Tempted" though.
@David Hargreaves I sort of agree ... Always looking for Jools on the keys but that ship has sailed along time ago. We saw Eric Clapton at Madison Square garden oct 2018 .. low and behold, Paul Carrack was manning the Hammond and sang the encore .. great voice!
East London is north of the river. Squeeze are from Blackheath which is in South East London. They do indeed have a unique London sound. I have loved them since I was a child.
