I used to eat up meme content farms like this until you talk about them. It really opened my eyes and i started watching stuff that has actual passion inside of it.
There was drama between emplemon and behind the meme which are 2 meme channels, emplemon makes youtube poops, well used to now he makes "documentaries" or highly researched videos which are pretty good, behind the meme was water torture, still is
The worst insult i've ever done to squewe was when i managed to make a near perfect recreation of his template despite the fact i have never done youtube-style video editing before it. And it only took me 2 hours to figure out the editing software. It took 2 hours to go from knowing nothing to making a near perfect copy of the content made by a person with a million subscribers.
Subscriber of both Sournale and Squewe here. The main appeal of Squewe's content is the videos themselves, which I can describe as "short-burst slapstick". It is a variation of the "perfectly cut scream" meme, where the humor comes from the expected/unexpected accident or the accompanying sound effect. When not, the humor is derived from the ridiculousness displayed on screen, or again, the accompanying sound effects. This also extends to the videos with the same thumbnail and topic, as the compiled videos themselves differ from video to video (mostly). The Spanish tts also has a similar appeal, as the humor aspect is derived from how will the tts butcher the name of the topic. Yes, the format is repetative, but that's really all about it. Even then, there's light variations of the numbering, the tts-text mismatch, some sfx cut ins etc. Altough he doesn't do these nearly as much as he used to 1 year ago. The rest of the editing is partly "branding", partly there to give a structure to the video, and there is some humor derived from repetition, as it's purpose is to increase the potency of catching the viewer off-guard when the light alterations happen. The intro, for one, is definetly "branding", and is in the same ballpark as Dolan Dark's "thanks for slopping by!", practically a catchphrase. Is it annoying? It's up to one to decide. We estabilished why Squewe (more like his compilations) can be considered funny by some, we can see why his videos gained success within the algorythm. There is a market for a compilation of short-form videos, see the successes of vine and fail compilation of years past. What set Squewe apart from those is this light editing that introduces these videos, and also that he ommits the yapping-based ones. Others saw the success of these vids, and exploting Squewe's sparse upload schedule they "supplemented" his content by providing similar "content" to satiate those who are interested in it. So what's the fix of this problem? It's really up to Squewe to transform his content and string his audience along to introduce them to better content offers. At best you can only incentivise him by leaving feedback, cause judging by his Discord messages he seems self-aware and reasonable enough to listen.
He actually tried to switch his content after some time after creating the channel, but views just got reduced to nothing on anything but the format he's milking now. Eventually he just revived his channel from stagnation and only this content was left
Sournale Your editing is the perfect amalgamation of ridiculous memes, and genuine good editing (to me who has taken film 1 in middle school 3 yrs ago).
It's actually quite admirable how honest and upfront squewe is about what he's doing. He admits his content is lazy and doesn't try to pretend to be a hard worker, he knows what his motivations are and why he does what he does, and it honestly seems like he mostly just got into this for fun and is now a bit addicted to siphoning views which is only because, as you said, RU-vid enables this kind of content farming in the first place. I don't exactly condone what he's doing or think his videos are good because of that, but he seems way more down to earth than mr oogway who whines like a baby bitch about getting demonetized and tries to fight actual super jacked pro fighters while looking like a fat couch potato and bragging about how he's gonna beat their ass only to get stomped into the floor lmao. Squewe seems like someone you could hang with.
It genuinely amazes me how well the production is of your content every time I watch it. Your editing is very well done and I really don’t find any parts of the video boring or repetitive. I think it’s really overwhelming, honestly feels the same as the content farms If he’s trying to do some ironic stuff, It might make sense, but man, I’m getting a headache from it.
Just because squewe might make “dumb” content doesn’t mean he’s dumb himself. I know him and he’s a really nice person so maybe look at it from a better way instead of just siding with this guy with everything he says

I'm not really sure how gen z exactly popularizes it Yes Gen Alpha slop is made by Millienals and Gen Z and they're def an influence However it's Gen Alpha whose popularized it, after all they're a large group of people Think of them as consumers, a movie franchise only keeps going if enough people but tickets This can be applied here If gen alpha never had access to the internet, it's easy to imagine that this specific kind of brainrot would fade in obscurity And this guy would move on from making slop pretty early The only major interaction Gen Z inflicted on Gen Alpha Slop, was Irony However Gen Alpha couldn't understand it's ironic, so they embraced it for the absurdity of it Which just feels like an unforeseen consequence
My brother is gen alpha and he's constantly saying gyat and calling himself sigma and talking about his rizz etc.He doesn't even watch the elsagate tier stuff. Obviously gen alpha isnt making the memes, same as most gen z memes were made by millenials.
As Somone who knows squewe personally he does this content so that he can keep a roof over his head as he’s going through a tough time rn please don’t hate on him he’s actually a nice guy and his content may not be mr beast lvl but just know it’s not only these videos he makes he makes gaming videos like elden ring and dark souls so please don’t hate on him or harass him
as a casual squewe enjoyer, i believe squewe is being a good man by admiting that his content isnt the best. his videos can get repetitive, but somehow it can crack me up. Excellent review sournale.

What makes Squewe bearable for me (mr. Dweller is much worse imo) is it somehow manages to be funny with this "intentional low quality" gimmick. Eyesore cyan textbox, broken english programmed voice, fried music and stock effects in the outro for most of vids. And the interactivity: every time a word or meme is picked and 5 related vids are arranged into top5, spiced up with goofy laugh, vine boom and brain aneurysm sounds (these are suprisingly still funny). The feel of randomness really helps. And ofc an honorable mention. It's an unrelated meme vid thrown in just before Number1. And it almost feels like a toy in kinder surprise. You never know what it will be and how funny it will be. And also which top5 will be next (commenters are suggesting) This intrigue makes me happy to find a mew Squewe vid in a subscribtion thread. (The downsides are though: 1) it gets self-repetitive from time to time; 2) sometimes a fnaf or sus joke crops up, which are 99% unfunny; 3) kids have discovered the channel and suggest tog 5 skibidi/gyatt/rizz. We are NOing them off so far) Also "Squewe run" looks like it's mocking those hyper-modern casual games where you just run down a straight line and dodge thing. And it has the same Spanish AI narrator, which believe it or not, has his own charm. It doesn't try its ass off capitalizing off poppy playtime or twerking, instead its rather organic "meme salad" Thnx
I feel that this channel is one of the best channels on RU-vid. You honestly make better content than 90% of other RU-vidrs, and you should be more known. Honestly, you’re probably my favorite RU-vid channel, and this isn’t even an exaggeration. You’re probably one of my biggest inspirations, so I Thank you very much. Also, as a request, Another Meme RU-vid channel that really sucks that I have come across called GelNox, wich makes content with jokes similar to MasterOogwgay, but with other content that is just the exact same. He milks the same meme about “mewing” and other meme content that he just milks all the time.

Nobody watches a squewe video because of quality, its funny to see the absolute butchering of words done by the spanish TTS and the random videos, it isnt that deep, the dude got popular because nobody did the "top 5 videos of random topic" format before he did, his content delivers on what people want from it, and thus has value to them.
It is interesting how most of the top comments aren't actually discussing the video, but only praising this channel for the great editing and chosen music in the video. Seems like the viewers realize why channels like Squewe are problematic, but also don't care at the same time, so there is no real discussion happening.

i personally think that squewe is just a really good satirical art project and that he's bluffing during the interviews, but thats probably because i unironically like david lynch's movies
I'm happy that you've been criticising this kind of content. Memes can be a genuine source of joy and connection, and their exploitation for money shouldn't be ignored. I bet that a lot of the clips used in squewe's videos could be funny if used in the right context, but since he's doing the same thing over and over and over again, and he's using the clips in really unfunny ways, the quality of those individual elements are being eroded. Content like squewe's makes good memes seem worse.
Honestly I think there is a balance of quality and content farming. I think a good example of a genuinely funny channel coming up with memeable things is the channel Luka Big Pants. I would say he is one of the many examples of channels that still make good content despite the success of channels like Beluga, One giant onion and etc

There is a huge air of a savior complex with this video. Don't delude yourself, just because you pick on channels that have no shame doesn't make you some sort of messiah. Meme culture isn't going to collapse no matter how much you want to fearmonger about it. Jokes don't die they re-incarnate.
