Selfish. Lazy. Short-tempered. Talentless. Even villainous. Society often puts labels on those who seek greatness, whether it be for fame or riches. And these two anthropomorphic toons especially get that short end of the stick, tending to be the butt of the joke with a streak of bad luck, as whatever can go wrong for them WILL go wrong. They want to have the spotlight over the hero (SpongeBob and Bugs) only to fail each time, being the second fiddle to them and getting dragged along on their adventures. Despite this, they have occasionally (at times reluctantly) teamed up with the hero, as they realize that the one that causes them the most grief is really the one true friend they have.
