There is nothing quite like hearing massed pipes in person. It is like a wall of sound that you can feel in your soul. Very moving. RIP Willie!

The double whammy of Amazing grace & Bagpipes will ALWAYS (regardless of how happy I am ) reduce me to a crying wreck. My personal favourite version of this is the Royal Scott's Dragoon Guards & Grimthorpe colliery band . Thanks for sharing your memories of Willie and I'm reminded of a quote.. I,m a Born and bred welshman welsh on my mother's side of the family and Scottish on my father's side yes the skirl of the pipes do get to you especially when amazing grace and highland cathedral are being belted out those two tunes can turn any strong willed man into a gibbering , sobbing wreck

I'm from Tennessee and in the SOUTH this is our favorite HYMN and I love the pipes and if you ever screw up and pick a fight here and here the pipes and fiddles coming over the ridge well you better have brought your A game we have

GREAT VERSION. The most BEAUTIFUL and STUNNING VERSION however for me is the Amira Willighagen version at the Classics is Groot concert in South Africa. That one really is UNBELIEVABLE OUT OF THIS WORLD.

Hello Mr. Squirrel. Love your videos. Bless both you and Willie. You both had a profound effect on each others lives. It seems that although Willie had problems, he still had a sense of keeping standards. Buying himself a suit when he could afford it. I wonder what his life consisted of before becoming homeless? As for your good self, you seem to be a kind and gentle man. Formed by life experiences. Thank you for telling us about Willie, this beautiful song and your love for bagpipes. To some he may have been just another homeless guy in a suit, but clearly Willie made an impression on you and what lovely memories to recall. I think you would like The Edinburgh Tattoo ( I sent you a postcard of it a while ago) which is held every year in August. Both the piper at Westminster Abbey and the piper at St. Georges Chapel Windsor got to me at our late Queen Elizabeth's funeral. There were tears rolling down my face as they played their laments for her. I believe a piper used to play each morning for her in the grounds of where she was.

For me, the ultimate bagpipe song has to be Scotland the Brave, and I'm not even Scottish. A song that is so well known for being played on bagpipes, when you hear it actually sung, it doesn't sound right.

WOW that was fantastic and very emotional to me also, I also love bagpipes but I find the more there are playing the better the sound and emotion they create, So you really should watch all the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo's there have been and also look out for the History of the Edinburgh Military Tattoo, either on BBC iPlayer or RU-vid 👍😍🇬🇧🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 And also look out for a lovely song written in Germany called Highland Cathedral ❤️ Thank You
