There is still a strong disconnect between the common man and the police. Police need to change and the change should happen from top to bottom.
@@sreelekhaips Totally agree with your comment. I believe that police and other armed forces should be paid higher than other civilian jobs for the underlying risk and to bring down corruption. But coming back to my point on police's attitude and disconnect with the public, the other point I would like to potray is a lot of unwanted protocols and hierarchy In uniformed forces. There is too much hierarchy that people down the line are treated with no respect by many officers, especially at mid-level. I have experienced that behaviour and attitude are not only inherited traits but reflections of what you have experienced in your career. For, e.g.-: in a corporate world, if you work with good bosses in your early days, you are bound to be influenced by their excellent management and leadership styles. I have seen a police officer(Not IPS) making his driver wait for a couple of hours every day at our club in uniform, holding his wireless set while the officer was playing badminton after 7 PM. I have also seen another officer scolding his subordinate using abusive language over the phone for petty reasons like using a police Jeep without his permission. These are totally unwanted protocols and hierarchies. This attitude binds police dealing with the public in arrogance and without empathy. I am not generalising, but many officers treat subordinates poorly, reflecting how they were treated by superiors or politicians. Mam, do you agree or disagree?
Ma'am we hear a lot of incredible stories from other Indian states, of even IPS and IAS offices getting harassed and harmed, but never i thought these could happen in kerala. If the lives of an IPS officer's family is threatened for taking the right action, there is no hope for the future of our society.. Truth is truly stranger than fiction.
Quite unfortunate! Seemingly, Kerala is not lagging behind in this aspect and people here are not venturing to act as such since enforcement officials prefer to refrain from crossing the so-called finish line. Otherwise, Keralities are likely to surpass other states.

Our society is totally corrupted because of the attitude of a few people and administrative system ( corrupted government servants ) . I think it is happening because of the lack of educational system which does not empower the attitude of a person to make sure the society good.

I have so much appreciation for your true confessions as it recollects our hard and dangerous life as “Madhyanirodhana “ (Prohibition Council) activists in 90 s and after. I remember how we had met you in Pathenamthitta Police office with our late state Secretary of Kerala Prohibition Council , Sri Jayaprakash Narayanan. Now I understand how difficult you had to pass as an IPS Officer in the police force. We recall the years spend in courts and police stations against “Kosha “ and “Massappady” which became a big issue and even ministers resigned. Thank you for your generosity and strength in publishing the truths which will stimulate millions.

Mam, what you did is right, you took right decision and took action against the corrupt and evil in the department (society). From your story I remember what lord Krishna taught karna during kurukshetra war when karna was facing his death. It is that "Bad and injustice happens in society not because of bad people like Duryodhana or Shakuni, but its because good and strong people like karna who are suppose to protect justice and punish the evil were being silent. May be due to selfishness or because of the fear that they will loose their friendship or because of the bad consequences that they and their families have to face". You are more brave than Karna, thats why you took action against your own group who did injustice and had to face all this bad consequences.
