Yala is a better trip overall as you have chances of seeing a leopard and lots of deer species. The best is Willpattu National Park towards the North near Anuradhapura.
If you guys are going to Weligama check out My Hostel, really nice place and they have good double rooms. Their restaurant, the Lazy Coast Cafe, is great too. The owner, Yakoob, is a really cool guy.
Udawalawe has quite a lot of elephants but they gather during the evenings mostly..Minneriya reserve (close to habarana area) is the best which has one of the largest elephant gatherings in asia. Over 300 can be spotted during September month.

Thank you 🙏🏼 We don't really do favorites as each country, its people and food are dramatically different. What is appealing to us us may not necessarily be your preference. Our suggestion is to research what interests you and pick your locations based on that 😃
I would say Sri Lanka, the most beautiful and diverse island of it's size in the world. Excellent food and fruit too, kind if like a fusion between Indian and SE Asian cuisine.
We walked around Ella and talked to different people. Found a few companies phone numbers advertised and sent them Whatsapp messages. We compared quotes from the people we talked to and the companies via Whatsapp and made our move from there.
