Srilankan style
BEEF FRY
Ingredients
2 pounds tenderloin beef
3 large onions finely sliced
2-3 green chilies
1/2 cup oil
11/2 tsp red chili powder
1 tsp turmeric powder
1 tablespoon red chili flakes
Salt as needed
Handful of curry leaves
1 lime juice
Method
Cut the beef into chunks and rinse well. Add it into a large pan add 1 tsp red chili powder, 1/2 tsp turmeric powder and salt as needed. Add enough water to cook the meat. Cook it in medium heat until it’s tender and no gravy.
Leave the beef to cool.
After cooling slice the beef into medium thickness and set aside.
Heat a wok or kadai and add hall cup oil. Shallow fry the beef both sides until light brown or golden color. Don’t fry for too long. It will become hard.
After medium brown add 3 large sliced onions and mix it well. Add 2-3 green chilies and combine well and add 1/2 tsp red chili powder, 1/2 tsp turmeric powder and 1 tablespoon red chili flakes and keep cooking until color changes and onions are soft and add handful of chopped curry leaves and give a quick stir and lastly add 1 lemon juice and put off the heat and serve with white rice.
