This affordable Seiko Field Watch EATS scratches! I've owned the SRPG39 from Seiko 5 Sports for almost a year now, and there are NO new scratches...or are there? In my full one year review, I'll show you this stonewashed case in detail, outline the specs and measurements, and give you my likes and dislikes. Is this the ultimate scratch-proof field watch?

I didn't make note in the video, but watches sold as SRPG39 are Made in Japan. Watches with the reference SRPG39K1 are manufactured in locations other than Japan. There is no difference to the build or aesthetics of the watch, except that the SRPG39 will have "Made in Japan" printed on the dial and the SRPG39K1 will not. The K1 version might be available a little cheaper. I always try to buy the Made in Japan version when available, but the K1 is also a great option. This is just a personal preference.

Definitely, but from a distance it just appears matte, or sandblasted...so not over the top!

Haha! Well, even if I did, it's just an opinion. I try to convey a sense of the things I like and don't like, so you can get a feel for things you may agree or disagree with me on. But this watch is a banger, as you now know!

It's quietly a fantastic watch! I think the price is lower than MSRP because they weren't selling, but now everyone is catching on at the lower price.

@@WatchWitt Your variant with the 'distressed finish' is unusual and special. Reminds me of the discontinued classic Seiko SUS 4S15 military 'high beat' (28,800bph) from the 90s.

I just got this a few days ago on sale at my local mall, and goddamn did it catch my eye as I was picking out watches that day. It's subtle yet elegant despite the fact that it's a field watch!

Hello, I have just started with watches. I'm looking for my first mechanical/ automatic watch! I need a sturdy work watch, as I'm not the most careful person ever! Furthermore, I really like this watch, but I live in Sweden and with shipping this watch costs $300 is it still worth it at that price? Have looked at local dealers and they have the same price.

This would make an excellent first automatic watch! Many of the Seiko 5’s would. Keep in mind that mechanical watches are more delicate when it comes to being knocked around, though. At $300 I think this is still a great watch, but just not “bargain.” The original MSRP is $295 USD. Make sure you check my shopping link (generated by RU-vid) for Jomashop…it’s $170 USD right now. They advertise free shipping too, but not sure if that includes Sweden. Good luck…check back in here when you get something!

anyone know the difference between the SRPG39K1 and SRPG39? Are they pretty much the same?

I put that info in the video description. K1 is not made in Japan. You'll usually see the K1's a little cheaper. There's no difference to the build or aesthetics.

No worries. I meant to talk about it in the video but forgot...so at least put it in the description. Goes for all models of Seiko when you see K1. An immediate way to tell, if the retailer doesn't show K1 at the end of the reference number, is to look at the dial. K1 WON'T have "Made in Japan" printed on the dial.

No, it's just a matter of preference. I mean MAYBE in 20 or 30 years the Made in Japan versions could be more collectible? Who knows? But I doubt anyone could tell the build quality or difference without that label.

Dial is exceptional but the thickness, long lugs huge turned down for me

It does appear pretty thick, with the domed crystal...adds a lot of height. But the lugs are relatively short in my opinion. Maybe check out the smaller options I list at the end of the video, but I think they're still going to be thick...
