Come along on a climb with me. A long edit from a first ascent climb in a bifurcated white oak in November 2021. A simple SRT base anchor / basal anchor was used for quick access to the canopy. Gear call outs are used during the video. Natural sound throughout the video with some light music tracks mixed in.

Great to see a new video, thanks for taking the time to bring us along. Wondering if you, obviously exposed to Richard's toys as well ;) , have tried the MagThrowBag ? Or is this obsolete if you're hooked on the Hook already?

Was a long time since you shared something, and this video was great! Here in Sweden we have winter and the weather is not that climbing friendly, so im waiting for spring to come. BTW, I love when the wind is blowing and i feel the steady movements from the tree, makes me feel relaxed and safe. Tree climbing rocks!!!

I know you've been on the HH for a while. How's the body holding up? I got the jet step this go around. Everyone I know likes the CT. My dog even liked mine.....🤦. Made it into a gaff accender. Nice accent! Man nice white oak 😍! Oh wow nice forest 😊! Thanks for letting us hang out. What do you have the throw line in? How much is in it? That was a spiffy advance.

Thanks for your video! I was getting concerned for you, wondering have you injured yourself or something. It's been ages since your last climbing video. Keep them coming!

@@AerialTraveler I want to have a go at a video. I'm not sure which camera/software to use yet, I'm waiting for the Christmas price hikes to come down. I've got most of the tree climbing gear though, and can get pretty high (up to 90 feet so far). I used to be scared of heights... not anymore! ...Watch this space! Thanks for inspiring us.

Thanks for your great videos. Ive been thinking about incorporating cambium savers into my climbs. Just not sure i want to take the extra gear, and seems like they would be difficult to set and retrieve without getting stuck.

I ordered two of the Weaver leather cambium savers from the USA, they are great! They retrieve very easily. (I live in the UK).

Dear hosocat, I've used the leather for years, since they were first introduced by Jon Mooring from San Diego back around 92. They can get stuck, you just have to know which crotch will work for the application. They don't work for each tree, but they are a rope saver, and can be easily installed from the ground. Jim

Do you prefer the rope wrench or the hitchhiker 2 for your friction device. I see you used both. I'm ready to order at least 1 of the devices and wondering which one you would get first.

@@AerialTraveler i have a hitchclimber pulley and ordered 3 different eye to eye hitch cords with my first climb line. The hitchhiker 2 looks to keep the system very compact and short , which I like. The rope wrench is a bit longer , but cheaper. Watched a lot of your videos since spring , and it looks like both devices would be good to have. I've been practicing srt climbing for hunting , and recently started practicing positioning for a traverse. Space inside is limited but im getting comfortable. The hitch cords bind really tight so a friction helper device is definitely needed. Thanks for you input. Even though the hitchhiker 2 is twice the cost , I think that will be my first device. Shortly after I will add a rope wrench. Thank you for all the cool videos and gear explanation. My climb kit is based on yours. The Shakespeare reel is definitely a cool addition.

I have an issue with the white oak. Many times the throw line gets wedged into a piece of bark and the ball won't drop. I have to pull it out and retry.

could you see the crotch your rope was over before you started up the tree? that’s the part that worries me.
