Just a big thanks to my friends for doing this video with me
I think we all can take some sort of inspiration from Stevie Ray Vaughan whether you Play that style of music or not
I know I have take in many cues from him along with many of the other artists I am inspired by, Much like the two guests that join me for this multi part series
Just a few dudes hanging out discussing tones of a legend!
Be sure to subscribe and stay tuned for part two!
The last farewell clip:

I've got to make a generalized comment because there is SO MUCH incredible substance in this video and the series and everyone should soak it in and really get into what they are telling you. Some people will get frustrated by answers that are kind of ambiguous but they are telling you that it's all about the journey and that you have to enjoy the ride. There is no one tone, one setting, one amp, one secret - use your ears and tailor things to how you're feeling on any given day. Use your heroes as an inspiration to add ingredients to your melting pot. Every SRV record is different because he too was just going with what he was into at that period - that's why it's fun to listen to Texas Flood one day and In Step another. It would be boring if they were all cookie cutter of one another.

Totally agree with you. Not to mention no equipment are the same. No guitar, strings, Pickups, effects pedal, amplifier/tubes or speaker are the same. Heck I've sometimes need to adjust my same equipment if the room or power are different. Finding your tone is at first a journey and then secondly a skill.

Awesome to see tone greats discuss and share their wisdom!! Philip Sayce is the nicest super star guitar player out there. He even came out and helped me choose my 68 fender super reverb (silverface) down at Paul's Butiqeue. His tone and playing is simply incredible and we in Toronto were fortunate to watch those live Grossman's shows...for free?!?! Jesse's kingtone duelist kicks a**. Jessey's tone and playing is very creamy!!! Let's see that Kingtone-Sayce colab!!! Perhaps a diaz inspired fuzz, my suggestion....Roller blades 🤣🤣🤣

The tone quest continues as it is enhanced everyday and although SRV's Tube Screamer settings varied from show to show (depending on the venue), some of em can also apply to similar overdrive pedals like my Boss Blues Driver that i almost lost my mind when i put the level @9 o'clock, tone @noon & gain@3 o'clock...WOW!Thanks for the video guys!

Funny. I like the ts9 tone run a bit sharp to counter the way break up tends to get base-y More like a treble boost on an already compressed signal. But hey 🤷‍♂️ we hear what we hear amd like what we like

Just to throw something into the mix,Nik. Nobody ever talks about finger calluses and finger pressure on the string in terms of "tone-quest"????

I feel alot of that comes with learning vibrato and phrasing in fret passages as well

You say some days you may want Albert Collins, some days this or that. Nah, I'm looking for mine. I may steal a lick here and there but I'm looking for my tone. It can always be better.
