I just bought an old Exciter SX, clutch bolt was broke off in the crank, in a few pieces stuck in the hole. I filled the hole with grease and a regular bolt with impact gun and popped right off. Was able to extract the bolt and replace!
I was surprised how easily this worked! One note of caution. I hope everyone noticed the short black bolt I used for the removal. It threaded into the clutch ONLY. If you put water in the cavity and the bolt you are using threads into the crank, it could break the end of the bolt off in the crank! Then you still have to deal with getting the clutch off AND the broken bolt out of the crank snout!
Could've been longer or used diagrams. I think this created more questions about tapers than it answered. How does it lock if it tapers away from the motor?
I just did my srx clutch and it was a nightmare. The good quality puller I had broke off the thr crank. I messed with it for two days and went with the water back up trick and it popped right off.
