It wouldn't be SS13 without coders being anal about what's 'allowed' to be powerful or not.

That's usually how first time wiz goes.

if i ever got wiz first time i would be seeing if i cant get some admin to basicly allow some changed antics for the round, ie be a more friendly wiz, still chaotic of corse because thats a wiz BUT give me a reasion to be semi friendly have fun and hay end of the day somefun can be had when ya learning and even more once ya master to become a proper antag (also few times got turned antag and i even had the fun of sci being so lax about giving the assassintants the flash its funny but i then locked my self in matiance :P i should have had HOP give me basic access so i could try helping jani. sense

In the event you ever do friendly wiz rp, its only inevitable that you get yourself shot with a dart with enough meth to instantly stop your heart on the spot, and you wont even be able to do anything about it. or you just get bombed. A friendly wiz round is just a wiz round where the crew get the first shot at killing you.

It's not JUST TG coder that are shitters, SS13 is plagued with a toxic coder community that sees anything fun as an "exploits" or "unbalanced" and they just fucking remove fun things. Thank god for there being so many code bases and branches

only way this will stop is if people make their own codebase... sadly beyond is a mess to even try to make things in and they know it, attempts to remake ss13 in other engines failed due to various reasons once one gets off the ground and is easyly moddable they will then have more competion some may try to jump ship to the new thing dont let them or it will be the same old thing and kill it before it can grow.

Coders would love nothing more than to turn ss13 into just another boring job sim. I mean it is technically a job sim but one with random and strange/whacky events that you can interact with while role playing. I remember one round where I rolled the janitor and was going around mopping the floor and yelling at "those dang kids" to stop running in the halls when out of nowhere a pack of space bears attacked kitchen, one beartrap, 5 spears, and a clown later we were feasting on bear steaks while said clown was prowling around maints wearing a bear robe claiming he was Honk-unga king of the jungle.

Or make it so wiz gear has limited uses in the hands of non wizards, that way players can have their 5 min of fun after defeating the wizard without the risk of affecting late game antags.

I'm pretty sure it doesn't? I think it just limits what things your target can actually be turned into. Which is dumb

It depends on staff. Polymorph staff will always shoot you, Chaos Staff has 5% to backfire, Healing staff worked as a medbeam gun instead.

You can rise a dead with Necromantic Stone and arm him with staff/wands

Coders always complain about how players aren't taking the game seriously enough, a game where you can turn yourself into a monkey with telekinetic powers, raid the bar for all of its wineglasses and hide them in the HOS's office, or force feed the clown deep-fried shoes. Just to name a few things I may or may not have done myself.

TG's problem is their shit coders while Bee's is their shit admins.

Mine was the shit admins, you know the ones who constantly redefine the rules mid round, accuse you of power gaming for grabbing an empty tool belt as cargo meanwhile the warden is decked to the teeth in confiscated sydi gear, or look the other way when their buds blatantly break every rule they can as fast as they can.
