In 1991 SsangYong formed a powerful partnership with Daimler-Benz. This allowed SsangYong to develop products using Mercedes-Benz technology. The 2000cc RX200e-XDi, boasts a 14% improvement in fuel efficiency, complying with the Euro 5 emission standard, Maximum output is 155ps at 4,000 rpm, and low-end torque can reach 190Nm at 1,000 rpm for superior starts. Maximum torque is kept where the engine runs most of the time, for outstanding acceleration when passing. Rexton W went through a facelift in 2015, adopting new vertical front grille and new W badge on the left side of the body. 2015 Rexton W was also upgraded with a Euro 6 compliant 2.2. litre diesel engine, and a 7-speed Mercedes-Benz automatic transmission also became available

The first generation of SsangYong Rexton was launched using technology from Mercedes-Benz - Rexton furthered SsangYong’s reputation for producing competent off-roaders.Rexton W reached the UK in early 2014 with an all new look and now well proven SsangYong 2.0 litre diesel engine. Rexton W is set to build on its predecessor’s reputation as a tough, no-nonsense off-roader and tow-car.

They make V8 5000cc XGI engines(SsangYong Korea) for chairman w luxury car has Height Control with AIR Suspensions. This model exported to limited countries only.

W = Winter, S = Summer In the W mode, gear is in the 2nd, and never goes to 1st gear. In the S mode position, gear is in the 1st .

The Y200 series Rexton was produced from 2001 to 2006. The car's design was styled by Giorgetto Giugiaro's Italdesign studio. And it was available only with four-wheel drive and one of four engines: a 2.3-liter 112 kW (150 hp) petrol engine, a 2.7-liter 121 kW (162 hp) and 342 N⋅m common rail diesel, a 2.9-liter diesel and a 3.2-liter 162 kW (217 hp) and 310 N⋅m petrol engine. 2,7XDi was based on Mercedes-Benz OM612.

A revision version called the Rexton W, was released worldwide at Busan Motor Show 2012 with 2.7 XVT and 2014 they introduced 2.0 e-xdi.

Okay, as I know from Benz cars with the 5G Tronic, the W means the winter mode, which limits the engine torque output to stop slipping. Fun fact, these have 2 reverse gears! This makes the car to reverse in 2nd and forward in 2nd and so on. The S is the sport mode, which gives the full power and torque. It starts in 1st forward and reverse gears! But not sure if the same works on the Ssangyong programming. The 270 model diesels had 5 cylinder Benz engines, which is rare to find 5 cylinder engines! Hope this helps someone!

Korean cars have European Technology after 2007 unlike Japanese vehicles ,They are hiring European designers to develop their products with Bosch ,continental,Delphi,Wabco and Mobis with European standards.

Korean vehicles has European technology after 2007 , they hire eurpean car designers for their companies , Korean cars has 50% European tech and Korean tech mixture ,so you have to maintain properly with specialists with quality repair solutions, Korean cars has Bosch,Continental,Delphi and mobis parts that’s why you have to maintain according to manufacturers specifications unlike Japanese vehicles. That s what engineers are recommending.
