The Smart Research C2 Compressor is based on the famous SSL Compressor heard on countless records. SSL Compression has a very specific sound due to the VCA Compression that gives it a lot of snap, glue, and punch especially if your mixing drums. This type of compression is a go to for drum compressors or mix bus compression because of how it can add cohesion to a mix group.
I primarily find myself using this compressor on drums, mix bus, and keyboards. I give my honest review on the unit and talk about my first impressions of the compressor.
