SSL did a great job I think this is a very nice controller. There are 2 major drawbacks 1) No Peak meters per channel 2) You have to buy the SSL-UF1 seperatly if you want any transport and master bus Control. This is an additional 700 bones. The SSL Controller is ($2,000) if you want the features that most other companies offer that include an 8 track fadders with Master bus, complete with peak meters and transport navigation control such as the Behringer xtouch ($350) and the Icon P1-M ($599)
I just tested it in Reaper. For the most part it works very well right out of the box. The plugin control mode doesn't work though. But the quick plugin control using the focus feature does work.
Hi...Can you please show me how to configure my UF8 with cakewalk...the faders don't seem to work on the mixing view...they just stay all the way down...the UC1 seems to work ok though. Im a beginner so take it easy on me 🙏🏻
If you need 16 faders and don’t want to get 2 of these then go with the faderport 16. If you are cool with 8 faders and want something that is a bit better quality then the UF8 is the way to go. I have the faderport 8 and it’s a great daw controller but this one feels more solid and the UF8 is a little more compact too.
I wish they used oled displays instead of the old lcd backlight type. It looks washed out. If it was oled you only see metering and numerical values and no blank grey space
When I was initially testing this out. I was wondering how it could work with FL Studio. I just tested it out and it's a little bit weird in FL due to FL Studio's unique workflow. I would recommend getting a controller specifically designed for FL Studio if that is your DAW of choice.
@@AudioTechTV Hi Zane, the problem is there's not a lot of controllers specifically designed (or 100% compatible ?) for FL Studio except for the Arturia Minilab III, Akai MPK mini Plus and the Novation FLkey 37... what's the problem ? I'm looking for a controller for the last 6 months (preferably with 61 keys) and didn't find the one I'd really like... and why each one is missing something (no aftertouch or arpeggiator, or no screen, etc....) ?? thanks for all those very good videos you make 👍👍

Imo one of the better controllers out there; Biggest disadvantage in HUI controlled Pro Tools is the 4 letter channel name labels. That is absolutely a blocker but I think that is not the same with MCU controlled DAW's. Pro Tools is just lagging lightyears behind again. ANd that is te "Industry Standard". Sure it has a fast workflow if you know it but it's buggy as fk and should have supported MCU long time ago already.
HUI & MCU are lagging lightyears behind. Avids Eucon gives you way more possibilities. It's time for other manufacturers to develop a new protocol worth of the 21st century, since Avid won't license Eucon to other controller manufacturers.
@@basilmuhlemann3318 Well that will probably not be a solution either if Avid doesn't support that new protocol. Instead of doing their own little thing maybe Avid should learn to be more open. Avid are losing ground on the daw market rapidly due to it's obsolete look, the bugs that just never get solved and the high price tag as well as many other great DAW's that are often better in some if not all regards. Personally I feel PT is unrivalled at audio editing but the bugs drive me crazy and cost me time.
Makes total sense because they have a separate unit dedicated to master fader and transport controls. When you have a couple of these 8 fader units, you don’t want multiple transports. 2 UF8s, a UF1, and UC1 is a pro setup.
