In this video I show how I upgraded my SSR 125 to a 140cc Piranha beast! not an instructional video but if you have questions throw them in the comments! thanks for watching!
Thank you so much! I hope it helped you! when I was first taking on the project I noticed that no one had a good video so I was determined to make one!!
It smokes a little tho but I thinking of get a high compression piston for it wen I get paid if u watch I make s vid of it and I can ride Willy for mills and lots of other stuff like hill clickers but I get no views
@@davidarmenta4812 honestly it could even be a 160 I got it off a parts bike and like it seem faster and sondes different then urs and the 150 like more bark
These pit bikes are soooooo easy to work on, you do a very nice job, with effort and time, and lot of hard work, to show people that anything, and especially dirt bikes, take a lot of up keep. They are an investment. No matter what you get. SSR will last as long as any mainstream bike. If you ride everyday, pay for it.👍. Very good music in the video as well!
Amazing retro fit I bought a Works motor high performance engine from a company t-bolt USA that guy Vince really knew his stuff they build an engine for me complete I didn't have to do anything except install it even the wiring system was hooked up completely even the kill switch CDI coil carburetor with Janet all I had to do is add fuel two bolts sprocket and chain exhaust system and I was up and running in their time keep up the great work enjoy your videos Carlos in San Diego sent me
Hey man please help me you seem Really knowledgeable about bikes I just bought a ssr 125 that’s flywheel is stuck it doesn’t spin it’s stuck in 1st gear the back wheel is locked and it won’t kickstart I think the bike is seized up I got a really good deal on it how I would I fix it
David Armenta a new motors gonna cost like 300-400 in still in high school so I’m pretty broke but if I can get money to buy an engine can u like make a video on the installation and stuff is it like hard
David Armenta yea true but how exactly does it mount on tk the bike like with screws and stuff in viceo it looked like u put it up on that lifter tjing and it just went on lol
@@YouJustGotBilled It is held on by 2 motor mounts you can look on your bike and see one is on the top the other is in the back behind the sprocket near the swing arm
Hey man I’ve been wanting to do a 150 swap in my 125. How do you know if the motor will fit? Is there like a bolt pattern to go by or how did you find one that fits? Cool project!
Would you recommend running an oil cooler with that engine? Or does it not really make a difference. Also, which engine do you think is better the lifan or the piranha. I am on the fence between the two engines not sure which one to buy.
I did the same swap and didn’t have to on mine until about 6 months of using it. Lost compression when trying to kick it over and adjusting the tappets brought it right back to life
I definitely have im fortunate that I have never laid the bike down on the right side or bent it this one is decently comfortable but I would like to change it but you are right.i don't know the size or where to get one that fits
@@davidarmenta4812 Hey David, yeah!! Just u know riding it hitt8ng it hard and stuff. My kid bought one last year. These little bikes are awsome, just had the valves done on his. Put some dunlop tires and man they rip
Humm check your spark plug wire and Cdi box also try starting with no fuel on and the choke on. My stock ssr cdi box went out also check the ground wire is not rusted or corroded. Check to make sure there is a clean air filter.
I need some advice. I'm making a go kart just to have some fun with and was looking at the SSR 125cc 4 speed now maybe this but what I'm wondering is I'm 200lb.. will either one of these engines get me moving and around how fast you think? This engine will just be temporary till I get a cr125 engine
myself and a friend were just talking about it and i can 100% say yes! like with anything else with care and maintainace this thing can last. I have had this for like 3 years and when we ride its to the limits. never change the oil or let bolts get lose and you will hate this bike but with proper care i would buy this bike 10x over.
Hello It has been up and going since the upload date probably a month before the video went up. I did have an issue with the breather tube being pinched between the motor case and the frame causing a lot of oil to drip from the case. I re routed the case breather tube (thick black tube at the rear of the motor) to the side of the bike by the rear break and foot peg. other than that its been an absolute beast! @@reneerothwell8972
AS you saw it helps to have another set of hands to help align the new motor to the mounts but i would def. try to have someone there to help if you could plus its more fun lol!@@reneerothwell8972
That is a good question I actually had to look but I got it for 800$ shipped from power sports distro in Feb of 2016 I haven't look at the price of them now but I would be interested to know if they went up in price.
I am going to make an effort to get out there what would you like to see. I want to get some riding stuff for sure but it just started to get nice outside so I'm ready!
@@davidarmenta4812 @David Armenta I would like to see how you would mount a battery for electric start. Im looking to get one of these but I dont want to be forced to get the automatic one to get an electric start built in. keep up the work man!
im nearly positive the SSR frames are identiacal the motor mounts should be the same as a CRF 50 so you should be good the specs on the motor website should ensure your bike is compatible
