PART 3 - Days 5 & 6 on the water. This series covers 531 miles on the St Johns River between Sanford FL and the Atlantic. We explored as many springs & creeks as we could during this 3 week adventure, on our 1971 HOBO houseboat.

thank you for such a well made video. I enjoyed the combination of still shots with captions and video, they 'flowed' nicely together. I grew up on Julington Creek off of the St. Johns and often thought about how nice it would be to do a trip like this. Now I can see some of what was previously just my imagination. I like the humble style of your adventure, happy trails!

The marina at the Astor brige is are home marina. We love the Saint River. Thank you for sharing. Are river.

Thanks for posting I don't think I mentioned before I'm a long time resident of Florida having come here from upstate N Y as a teen in 1956 avid boater 21' cuddy and in all my years year I've done the entire west coast including every navigable river but for reasons unknown never have I yet done the St. Johns on my bucket list so I'm very much enjoying your posts thanks again

Thanks, I am encouraged someone is enjoying the voyage with me as I review and assemble the material. My reason for doing this series is to preserve some of the memory and detail for myself, but also for anyone else wanting to know more about the St Johns R. I hope there are some folks who would want to explore it themselves personally, whether by boat or land.

Silver Glenn Springs on hot sunny summer weekend day, will be chock full of boats anchored and beached. I do hope that they do restrict the number of boats that come into the springs. I know it would have been a longer trip, but you can boat about another 25 miles or south south of Sanford. Its also gorgeous "upriver" of Sanford which is of course is south and not north as it is on most rivers. I grew up boating the Ohio out of Cincinnati. I love boating rivers. They are the most interesting watereays to me. I'll be looking forward to more of your videos.

Our original plan was to go to the Jolly Gator fish camp south of Lake Harney, but I wasn't sure about skinny water just south of Sanford and at the south end of Harney. I just saw a Labor Day video if Silver Glen Springs and it did not look good. There are some conservation efforts, like some white stakes along portions of the Run on the way in, to preserve habitat, but over-use is definitely a threat to the wildlife.

Ohio is a big river but I bought a mile by mile guide recently and am contemplating a downstream trip from Pittsburg, maybe in 2026. Some Canadian travels this summer and Erie Canal next summer!

@@areguapiri You can get an idea of the houseboat interior and features I incorporated from the earlier videos on construction and rebuild (I had to gut the boat and rebuild it over 2-1/2 yrs). These videos are the earliest ones on the channel. Various upgrades have been covered as I make them. Thx for your interest!

You can get gas at the marina at Astor Bridge. 9 to 5 seven days a week

I guess I was just focused on the fuel sign on the west bank, and would have stopped there on impulse or convenience to top up, and Drifters Inn, if either was open. I overlooked the Port of Call YC directly opposite. Thx for mentioning. I see they have pumpout facilities too.
