God gives special graces to those whom He elects for special missions. After the role of the Mother of God, the most important office in God’s Plan is the role of St. Joseph: father to the Christ Child and protector of His most chaste mother. St. Joseph was born free of original sin, never committed actual sin, and made a vow of celibacy. After a time in Limbo, his body was assumed into Heaven. The Incarnation (Christmas) was always in the Mind of the God. Thus, He eternally predestined that His Son have a true Mother and a holy guardian. Thank you , so where I attend Latin mass has a statue of saint Joseph. He stands there with a wooden beam in front of him, he has an axe in his hand and the beams bark is half stripped down. What I got from that is , This is what God allows to happen to our hearts, pruning and taking away our useless and rough edges, we are the beams of the church He is building. Many times it seems God is hacking away our lichen and poisonous grooves, Good St Joseph I ask for you to intercede and ask God to hack away at the useless superficial junk I hold tightly onto in my life. Please help others who read this to do the same.

Beautiful and it all adds up to create a Holy Family for our Lord Jesus to grow up in and a very important place in heaven after Saint Joseph's passing on. Pope Francis has a figure of St. Joseph sleeping and dreaming and he writes little notes asking for advise while he too sleeps. We do it also and thank him for loving and obeying God in taking care of His Son Jesus and Holy Mother Mary and that we may be blessed like the Holy Family. 👐💖🕊💒⛪🙏🌹📿🌹🇲🇽

Most beautiful talk. However, in THE MYSTICAL CITY OF GOD it says the stick was placed in the hand of each one...St. Joseph's blossomed and the dove lighted on his head. And he was 33 years old. Mary was 14. Also, how would you prove by nature Mary outshone all others together? St. Alphonsus in THE GLORIES OF MARY said the sun represents the Son of God, and the moon represents Mary, who enightens those in the darkness of sin. And the moon outshines all the stars put together. Praise be Jesus and Mary. Now and forever.

Why do others teach Joseph was a widower/father? Not that that's bad, just wjere did they get that perspective? Where do Catholics get this one? I'm learning about the Saints and Nary of course. New to all this, currently in RCIA, and was LDS for 36 years, then born again to Jesus as a happily (protestant) non denominational christian for 15 years and now I'm here.

This is a very nice story, but can we assume that it is indeed just a story? Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but.... No time over the last two thousand years did the church ever teach that Joseph was born without original sin or that he was assumed into heaven. Right? In fact, the church has always taught that Mary is the only person to whom those attributes apply. So how is this priest preaching in direct opposition to what the church has always taught? So...... what are we to think of what this priest is saying? It is literally in no way compliant with any church teaching since the Inception of the church itself.

Hello Nope Nope, greetings. As far as anybody knows and what our Holy Church accepts is that St Joseph had passed on. The likelihood was he older than Our Blessed Lady and he had fulfilled perfectly what God had required of him.

It sure was interesting when he said how the 4 advent candles stand for the 4 millennia between Adam and Eve and the birth of Jesus. This priest has repeatedly denounced evolution, and, I'd like to believe that, but what would he say to ALL of the evidence that the human species is a bit older than 6,000 years? Not to mention the rest of creation.

Jeff Finkbonner There is no 24hr day in the Genesis account. Evolution implies that humans are nothing more than sophisticated apes if that's true why do stupid apes not cause world war? The science of the evolution is incomplete with missing links even those who advocate the concept say that.

You also fail to recount the very important fact that St Joseph was Crown Prince of Juda, in the direct line from King David and King Jesse, albeit dispossessed of that kingdom, and thus that our Lord was not only spiritually King of the Jews but physically, too, his father being Crown Prince of Juda. Our Lady, too, was a princess of Juda, being directly descended from David and Jesse - the Root of Jesse. Both St Joseph and our Lady lived in poverty but they were known to be of the line of David and, if the Kingdom of Juda were ever restored, they would be King and Queen thereof. They were the original dispossessed royal family but God had even greater plans for them, as they knew and as God had revealed to them, for they were to be the parents of the King of Heaven, the Messiah Himself. In missing these facts out, you do not accord the full honour due to St Joseph and our Lady.

Wrong. Our Lord said: "Amen I say to you, there hath not risen among them that are born of women a greater than John the Baptist" [Matt 11.11]. Thus St John the Baptist is above St Joseph and St Joseph would be the first to tell you that, if you would but listen. That, too, is why the liturgy always places St John the Baptist before St Joseph. In addition, St Joseph WAS much older than the Blessed Virgin - all the visionaries confirm this. According to Blessed Anna Catherine Emmerich, he was about 45 when he married the Blessed Virgin and she was about 16. WILL YOU AMERICANS PLEASE STOP TRYING TO RE-WRITE THE GOSPEL STORY?

What a story! Yes, what a story, as that is what it is. We begin by reading the Word of the Lord. So why not actually read what it says. NOTHING about this story. Indeed ,what it does say is something very different : In St Mathew's gospel, chapter 13 :53-56, it tells us of Jesus returning to his home town and the people being astonished at his teaching. " Is not his mother the woman called Mary and his brothers ( Greek adelphoi) James and Joseph and Simon and Jude? His sisters (adelphai)too. are they not all here with us?"The New Catholic Encyclopedia (1967, Vol 1X, p337 admits that the Greek words used "have the meaning of full blood brother and sister in the Greek speaking world of the Evangelist's time and would naturally be taken by his Greek reader in this sense."Of course it is NOT his cousins, the text is obvious. When what is meant is not brothers but relatives, a different Greek word , syggenon, is used as at St Luke, 21 : 16.Consider also the account at St Mark, chapter 3, verses 31-35. Here, his mother and brothers turn up outside and this is told to Jesus. But, looking at his disciples, he says:"Here are my mother and my brothers. Anyone that does the will of God, that person is my brother and sister and mother."This passage only works if it really is his mother and brothers outside, otherwise it makes no sense. Don't be fooled by later Church traditions and teachings. But be careful, actually reading the New Testament can be harmful to your faith
