St. Louis CITY SC Historic First Game At CITYPARK! Pregame, Scoring, Highlights & More!
History was made in St. Louis, Missouri, on Saturday, March 4, 2023, when their new St. Louis CITY SC MLS team played their first ever home game at CITYPARK Stadium! It was a huge event for the city to get to welcome home their first-year expansion team for a match with the Charlotte FC club. It seemed like the whole city was celebrating this historical event, with block parties and watch parties taking place all over town! There was a lot going on outside the stadium, with DJ's and live music, food trucks, merchandise tents, and even the Budweiser Clydesdales showing up. The atmosphere was amazing, and St. Louis fans came out in force to support their team with a sold-out crowd awaiting CITY SC when they stepped onto the pitch. The pregame events were at times both solemn and inspiring. A moment of silence was observed for Charlotte FC Defender Anton Walkes, who tragically passed away in January of this year. There was a tribute to the displaced people of Mill Creek Valley and the "Pillars Of The Valley" monuments at CITYPARK that honor them. There were interviews and introductions, and the crowd was given an incredible rendition of the National Anthem by Kennedy Holmes. And then the game started and it was incredible as well! What a night, what a game, what a day for the City of St. Louis and CITY SC!!!
