This was my first time driving an awd car in a rallycross. I rented a mid 90s Impreza coupe with a 2.2ish engine, a mostly stripped interior, and snow tires.
The straight line grip was amazing. You floored it and it just went. Fast corners felt great with a little lift off/trail braking rotation and the front wheels pulling the car straight. Slower corners lead to understeer which lead to ham fisted steering, jerky throttle control, and gnashing of teeth. I understand why left foot braking is so important in these cars now.
Overall, it was a great time.
