Thanks for the trip down memory lane Lived on Collingwood road from around 1980 to 86 Beautiful village and hasn’t changed much Love seeing all the pubs I used to frequent when I was there plus the Youth Club Can’t believe my brothers and I used to ride our bikes down that crazy curvy road to the beach Thank God for the Coastguard at the bottom
We probably have common friends as many that attended the primary school were residents in that part of St Margaret's at Cliffe. We all used to congregate at the football park after school....
George Arliss spent his summers there from 1909 or so through 1939 when it became a restricted area due to shelling by the Germans in the Channel. In 1942, his house sustained a direct hit from a German shell but nobody was injured. The "Cottage" was not rebuilt until after his death in 1946 by his nephew who inherited it.
@ 3:00 "The Knoll garage" was on the right...I lived in St Margaret's Bay, Granville Road 1981-1989 with my mum, very isolated....very much a place to retire.
