I have a vinyl record of the music from the wedding and I can tell you that this sounds beyond magnificent 🎶❤️

The Prince commissioned this piece specifically for the wedding, so this was its world premiere.

There is a splendid upload entitled "Paul's Children" which was made by the BBC in 1978 and which shows Barry Rose with his boy choristers making some superb music. Well worth a viewing.

Similar in one way to ‘I was glad’ it builds and builds to high treble note finale.

As mentioned, the sound and video quality is not the best. But the energy of the performance cannot be surpassed. I think that is Sir David Willcocks conducting, and Christopher Dearnley at the organ. It was a Great Occasion, and this clip is a fine reminder of it.

The conductor is not Sir David Willcocks. That is Dr Barry Rose OBE, Master of the Choir from 1977 to 1984. Sir David conducts at the end of the service for the Laudate Dominum.

Brian McKay Thank you for the correction! Sorry about the mistake. I have enormous respect for Dr. Rose, as well as for Sir David. And thank you also for the suggestion about "Paul's Children." I will hunt this up and view it.

Anyone interested in Barry Rose's time at Guildford will find a great deal of material on our channel, all of it better recorded than this!

It’s Barry Rose conducting and John Scott playing

1981 - most people in the UK didn't have a VCR, then, & if you did have one, the recording quality wasn't good - problems with the tracking of the picture, among other things.
