I Agree This is How we Must Sing it was my song at H P School Begumpet Brought by the Englishman who were Principal for this School & is sung it was played by late Mr S W Chandrasekhar
As I rise from sleep, I thank Thee, O Holy Trinity, for through Thy great goodness and patience Thou wast not angry with me, an idler and sinner, nor hast Thou destroyed me with mine iniquities, but hast shown Thy usual love for mankind; and when I was prostrate in despair, Thou hast raised me up to keep the morning watch and glorify Thy power. And now enlighten my mind’s eye, and open my mouth that I may meditate on Thy words, and understand Thy commandments, and do Thy will, and hymn Thee in heartfelt confession, and sing praises to Thine all-holy name: of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, now and ever, and unto the ages of ages. Amen. O come let us worship God our King. O come let us worship and fall down before Christ our King and God. O come let us worship and fall down before Christ Himself, our King and God. AMEN
Inspired by the spirit of the hymn , I have translated it to Polish, and yesterday the whole congregation had a the privilege of taking part in singing.
Having grown up an Anglican and a long enthusiast of hymns and choral music, there are few or none in the world who can sing virtuously as the choirs of St. Paul's Cathedral, Westminster Abbey and King's College Choir. These boys are trailblazers and will leave most other aspirants in the dust! In fact I dare add that they are simply angelic particularly when you hear them bang out the descants so effortlessly but with riveting effect...and yes they're from the UK and I'm proud of my boys.
Very close to the mark. Here in Oz each Sunday morning we get to sample the choral singing from a variety of English Anglican churches. So hymns require a choir to bring out their best.
Beautiful. This is what church is supposed to be like. Much more reverent than a praise band. I wish more churches would move back to the traditions that were pre-established by our beloved ancestors and hymnwriters.
I so agree with you. Drums and guitars just aren't what I want to hear in church. I went to a church that had praise music before becoming Catholic. We have beautiful music at the church I go to now, plus God bringing me to the Catholic church was truly a gift.
Not quite true, s007ja. As soothing and reflective as this hymn is, it is not any more "reverent" than what you call a praise band. All forms of praise and worship do have their place in church. The scriptures do encourage us to use all forms of praise to our God and savior, Jesus Christ. Ephesians 5:19 tells us to "speak" to ourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs. I do agree though that it has a different effect upon one as the melodies and lyrics do allow for deep contemplation, in a 3 1/2 minute space, about God's awesome love and work with humanity. Blessings.
@@davidprince8811 Thank God for freedom to choose .The Anglican way is absolutely devine. The African way with the drums and bass gituar is also devine.Every culture has their own style .Psalm 150 tell us how to worship with string instrument the loud cymbals the harp dances it's a holy party.I was raised in the Anglican style of worship which is my fav. There are certain times when the African style of praise is appreciated. GOD THE ONLY TRUE JUDGE ACCEPTS BOTH AS LONG AS ITS PURE AND SINCERE.🙏
English hymns are so stirring and majestic and unsurpassed in their beauty. We Lutherans also have many great German, Dutch, Swedish and Norwegian hymns in our Book of Worship. I love "high church' worship be it it Lutheran, Episcopal or Roman Catholic.
Sorry to be so offtopic but does anyone know of a tool to log back into an Instagram account..? I stupidly lost my account password. I would love any help you can offer me.
@Anders Santana I really appreciate your reply. I found the site thru google and Im waiting for the hacking stuff atm. Looks like it's gonna take a while so I will get back to you later with my results.
Thank you Jesus for everything so far. For upholding and keeping me and my babies. 4.5 years of pregnancy, not a joke! I thank you for the sustenance. I shall testify soon in JESUS'S Name......Amen
Praise, my soul, the King of Heaven; To His feet thy tribute bring. Ransomed, healed, restored, forgiven, Evermore His praises sing: Praise the everlasting King. Praise Him for His grace and favor To our fathers in distress. Praise Him still the same as ever, Slow to chide, and swift to bless. Glorious in His faithfulness. Fatherlike He tends and spares us; Well our feeble frame He knows. In His hands He gently bears us, Rescues us from all our foes. Widely yet His mercy flows. can't add last!
One of the greatest hymns of our Anglican Church...sung by a renowned choir in a famous cathedral....makes me proud to be a lifelong Anglican from Canada
Wow!! Praise the Lord, alleluia. This to me, is best rendition of that song, ever presented or sung, by any church on earth. It is outstanding and astounding. I doff my hat for the English people and thank God for using them, to bring Light ie the gospel, to the rest of the world, as Missionaries then, especially to Africa and particularly to my country, Nigeria. To God alone be all the glory.
I have visited St. Paul's only twice, and I found each time that I cannot sing for being overwhelmed with the sheer joy of being in such a marvelous acoustic! It has to be one step away from heaven!
Organgrinder1010, the atmosphere in a church comes from the Lord’s blessings on the building as a result of prayers said over the centuries. ‘The prayers of the humble man pierces the clouds’. Ecclesias. 35 v 17 And God hears the publican’s prayer at the back of the Church. The Pharisee at the front who parades his deeds is proud and has to learn from the Publican at the back. Luke 18 v10/
Exactly how I feel. We've lost much of the serene beauty, awe, and majesty that makes worship of the One, the True, the Almighty Holy God, what it has always been meant to be in the church today.
In Indonesia, we have this song in Kidung Jemaat KJ no 288. Mari, Puji Raja Sorga Mari, puji Raja sorga, persembahan bawalah! DitebusNya jiwa raga, maka puji namaNya! Puji Dia, puji Dia, puji Raja semesta! Puji Yang kekal rahmatNya bagi umat dalam aib, dulu, kini, selamanya panjang sabar, mahabaik. Puji Dia, puji Dia, yang setiaNya ajaib! Bagai Bapa yang penyayang, siapa kita Ia tahu; tangan kasihNya menatang di tengah bahaya maut. Puji Dia, puji Dia, kasihNya seluas laut! Kita bagai bunga saja, layu habis musimnya, tapi keadaan Raja tak berubah, tak lemah. Puji Dia, puji Dia, yang kekal kasihNya! Sujudlah, hai bala sorga, abdi Allah terdekat; turut, bintang, bulan, surya, tiap waktu dan tempat. Puji Dia, puji Dia, Sumber kasih dan berkat!
@march131958 Real music like this and "praise band" aren't even in the same category. This is music that has stood the test of time and still stirs the soul.
I cannot stop listening to this great hymn, I often play it instead of listening to other music / hymns. what a magnificent choir and great work from the choir boys.
Wonderful! Just one of those countless hymns we had to sing as junior school children at our harvest festival/Christmas/Easter church services. They happily lodged themselves into my soul and have stayed there ever since. Would love to know how many other British people feel the same...
+Ann Hastings Hundreds of CofE primary schools around the country, as well as some more old-fashioned non-religious ones too, still celebrate all the Christian festivals you mention, with religious services, as well as daily singing in assembly. I'm a teacher and know of many schools beside my own (in multicultural Birmingham, no less) who still do all of this. All is not lost.
Hello John my twin sister and I , now aged 72 remember ALL our choir songs and church hymns we sang in the Friday service at our Secondary school. We have sung all of our lives although we are 4,ooo miles apart we talk most days. Our love for singing is due to a wonderful choir mistress who turned us into an award winning choir. Best wishes John from North Carolina.
Colony grandma here from the Westindes. We sang these at school everyday and at church on the weekends. In school we has morning worship singing these hymns. Prayer before and after lunch and evening prayer and hymns for dismisal.
Just last week I walked into a church to attend Mass and the first hymn was this one, which I love. I turned to my wife and said: 'I just hope they take it slowly...all beauty is gone if they take it too fast!' Unfortunately my wish was not fulfilled and we sadly zoomed by...
This hymn is among the world's greatest, performed by one of the best choirs in the world. Brings back the days of singing these hymns in the Anglican choir in a small town in southern Ontario.
But as for me, I will always have hope; I will praise you more and more. My mouth will tell of your righteousness, of your salvation all day long, though I know not its measure. - Psalm 61:14-15
This is one of my favourite hymns, and versions of it! Thank you very much for posting! I particularly loved the last verse with the percussion, brass, descant, and Organ! Just beautiful! Greetings from New Zealand.
That last verse is a keeper . . .wow kettle drums, trumpet fanfares and a descant that knocks it out of the park.... NOBODY does these great hymns justice like the English
Oh; more, MORE! Can't hear these great hymns and organs anymore. Now drums, guitars and keyboards with repetitive phrases. I bought my own church organ and hymnal and learned to play the organ! Doesn't sound like THIS, however. I'm dabbing my eyes...
WHAT A MAGNIFICANT CHOIR SINGING ONE OF THE GREAT HYMNS OF THE LAST AND PRESENT CENTURIES. THE WORDS ARE A REAL TREASURE TO LISTEN TO AND HEAR THE CHOIRS GREAT TALENTS SINGING IT.
We sing this from time to time in our Presbyterian church in Bethlehem, PA, USA, and the way the congregation sings it out with the pipe organ makes it all the more exciting to hear. Another hymn that I enjoy singing there is "Lift high The Cross".
ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL ! Ditto on March131958's comment! You can always rely on St. Paul's Cathedral for the best of the best in church music.....anywhere in the world. The pipe organ, the congregational singing and the ACOUSTICS.......WOW WOW WOW ! I feel closer to the Lord each time I hear this. Thank you for the videos of St. Paul's
Aww, you never heard of the Methodists?!? What a shame: in that case you are invited to worship with us at the Wesley cathedral 39 Beecroft Street, Calabar, next Sunday. Ten o’clock sharp!
The tempo is perfect, and i LOVE the little pause inbetween verses that allows the reverb to completely end before starting the next verse. Magnificent
I love the choir that is great as usal but I also love english people singing hymns: they really fill churches with their voices and I think this is fantastic.
I am reminded of my wonderful school days in South Yorkshire when I hear this heart warming hymn.God bless all my family and friends throughout the wold.
When the trebles came in with the descant I lay on the floor and sobbed: memories of Sheffield City Grammar 1950, with Ann Darwin singing the descant. Glorious, glorious music, and I'm not even a "Christian! First chord of the last line C,Dsharp,Fsharp, B resolving on A. Surely the most thrilling combination in music?
I sing alto in a church choir and have perfect pitch. My favourite chord is an A major first inversion. This hymn should be sung lustily. In 1950, my father was about to be called up for National Service and my mother, aged fourteen, played the Bach Double Violin Concerto with an older girl at Friary Grammar School in Lichfield!
This Anglican Church of England Hymn entitled 'Praise My Soul, The King of Heaven' is hauntingly and beautifully sung with great dignity and solemnity by the Saint Paul's Anglican Cathedral Male Choir with an awesome and lovely descant. It is glorious, inspirational, magnificent and spiritually elevating! Hallelujah....! - Praise the LORD GOD....! O Worship the LORD in the beauty of Holiness..! Present among the large congregation was the Chief Rabbi of Great Britain, Sir Jonathan Sacks who also participated in the singing of this extraordinarily beautiful hymn.
one of the great hymns which will be sung for many centuries to come..great job by the choir."Father tends to us and spares us all" A great cresendo by the choir boys
You will recall that this is one of the most "live" acoustic spaces in the world. Speed will make mush of the whole thing with a reverberation like that.
Great - one of my favourites and I love to sing it in the choir. However, This is not just 'St Paul's Cathedral Choir' but and ougmented choir including The Gentlemen and Choiresters of the Chapels Royal !
Keep in mind, nitwit, that the tempo and pauses also accommodate the ENORMOUS acoustics in this massive cathedral. If the hymn is played/sung too rapidly, the sound will just blend. I think this video clip is an outstanding performance of this outstanding hymn--tailored for long resonant acoustics.
The organ sounds excellent there i can play this hymn and would like to play it here!!! Full Organ with Full Congregation and Choir!!! Pull out thoses 32' Reeds!!
Dorothy Gager unfortunately God does not hear the prayers or praises of those who are in false religions rebelling against truth. They are actually judged worse because they are here. And the false priests and teachers that have taken over this religion in England will suffer eternal damnation.
