I disagree that Elliott would have taken his Dad's side if he'd known. The type of angry El was in those years would have allowed him to beat his Dad for that like a rented mule. He'd have been happy for the excuse.

I can see where his brother is coming from though. Elliot definitely looked up to his father more than any of his brothers did. It is evident with the career choices he made even after his father beat him up. I am not saying he would have taken his father's side though Randall does have a point.

Timeline wise i dont really buy the retcons. We know stablers father was " the great santini" type but i dont buy there situation considering bernadette was mentally unwell and dangerous herself . I seriously doubt the same woman that almost kiled them both because she saw fireflies has the mental awareness to hide abuse from stabler
