What sets this girl apart is her gift of making it sound as if she is singing to you, and you alone. Up to now, the only other versions of this song I've heard are the ones recorded by Al Bowlly in the 30's, coincidentally another singer who had that rare gift of true intimacy. This is a wonderful rendition, and thank you for it.
I just go into dream mode when I listen to this great music. Stacy has that natural ability to make you relax. Her voice is smooth and so nice and her timing is brilliant.
One of the best renditions of this great song. Stacey is a master of soft and alluring vocal expression. The supporting piano, percussion and sax are equally tasteful.
Indeed.... her voice is lyrical. And yes there are still a few out there like Stacey Kent and Diana Krall... You just have to search places like RU-vid and the internet and they can be found. Thank you also for sharing.
I've been racking my brain trying to figure out who sang this version when I heard it on the radio. I always miss title and singer announcement before or after the song. Tried to find it online. Even emailed the radio station(no reply). Finally, when I was in the car today, Turned on the radio and here it was. Luckily at the end of the song, the DJ announced who it was. so glad. I have heard many versions, but I like this one the best.
hoozerob I agree. But if you a cool treat - check out "Marion Montgomery Dudley Moore Close Your Eyes". I'm not saying it's better - but it's really good & a lot of fun. And yes, that's Dudley Moore form "Arthur"
+Theo Lamp Thanks for posting this. Dudley Moore was one of the great unsung heroes of both jazz and classical piano. He was a magnificent talent in so many areas but, what hurt him the most when he got sick near the end, was the fact that he could no longer play the piano. RIP Dud.
Close your eyes, put your head on my shoulder and sleep. Close your eyes. And I will close mine. Close your eyes, let's pretend that we're both counting sheep. Close your eyes. This is divine. Music play, something dreamy for dancing, while we're romancing, it's loves holiday. And love will be our guide. Close your eyes, when you open them dear I'll be near. By your side. So won't you close your eyes? Close your eyes Close your eyes
I loved this song n the early 1950's but until now have had to make do with the jazzed up version by Tony Bennett. Finding this has been a gift that I don't deserve. A wonderful arrangement and presentation.
DEAR MS. KENT...THANK YOU SOOOOOOOOOOO MUCH FOR YOUR BEAUTIFUL RENDITION OF THIS SONG.............SO LOVELY, I KEEP PLAYING IT OVER AND OVER. SINCERELY, SHARON RAY
My dad recommended I put this on while working later at night, as I have a good bit of trouble staying on task without something to occupy thought. Nice music, to be sure, but I'm trying *not* to relax right now
estupendos !!!!! J.im Tomlinson Tenor Saxophone;Colin Oxley Guitar;David Newton Piano;Andrew de Jong Cleyndert Bass; and Steve Brown Drums; Música "Close Your Eyes" de Stacey Kent (Google Play • iTunes). ¡¡¡ Gracias !!!!
Stacey is just plain wonderful, smooth, and clear and sooo musical. She reminds me of a singer named Beverly Kenney, who decided that rock and roll was ruining everything. And she committed suicide. I often think that had Bev hung in, bossa nova would have come on the scene and she'd have sounded much like Stacey does today. Great song, but..as for Bev Kenney I will always wonder...
Cierra tus ojos, pon tu cabeza sobre mi hombro y duerme. Cierra tus ojos. A tu lado. Entonces, ¿no cerrarás los ojos? Cierra tus ojos Cierra tus ojos. Instrumental. Cierra tus ojos, pon tu cabeza sobre mi hombro y duerme. Cierra tus ojos. A tu lado. Entonces, ¿no cerrarás los ojos? Cierra tus ojos Cierra tus ojos.
