After three bad rounds in a row, with poor contact, I started watching theses stack and tilt videos. I went to my club yesterday and decided to commit to this. Hit some balls on the range, and then went out and played. I haven’t hit the ball that well in years. I am a believer. There is an adjustment, but not as big as I thought it would be.
Ah thank you i was wondering why i wasn't consistent. In my back swing I at time didn't maintain the forward stance. I would bring it back with me but the times i hit the ball solid i notice now that i was maintaining the forward stack. Nice thank you. I have been recording myself after u watch your videos and catching my mistakes . Wow after lessons and buckets at the range this has been the best way for me so thank you
Hi Nick ..great explanation of the basics of S & T ..one question tho where are you actually focusing at adress -at the ball or at the low point opposite the left heel ? Thanks.
Nice explanation of the difference in the driver tilt vs: the irons Can now see and visualize the lowering of the right shoulder which I've needed. Thanks-Russ
My irons are working much better using the S&T, when I can get the movement right, the driver is all over the map, will continue to work on this, and your setup explanation should help, cheers
Working on it right now with surprisingly good results. The feeling I have is from my left thigh muscle straightening and the club head following whilst the handle is much further toward target than I have ever been able to get it in my life. Club head and hands are now in line at impact and with some more practice I’m sure I can get a few degrees of delisting over the next few days 😊
Hi Nick. In the S&T book under the Power Package (pge 90) there are 3 ways to maximse the club speed; you cover 2 but the third is the "braking of your shoulders and hands before impact" in order to crack the whip. How is this done as i have not seen any material on this point. Could make a good vid.
Many thank for your valuable video. So, the answer of the question "Why you need to put the weight FW in swing?", is "To make an easier downward attack angle at impact (with irons) compared to conventional weight transferred swing's stlye, right?
How do you set up the grid you use and is the ball position in the center of your stance it looks like it from the camera angle. Thank I enjoy the videos really trying to learn the system
The grid lines are roughly 20 degree angles and ball position 'for me' is around a club head inside the left heel so with my stance width its slightly closer to the front foot with a 7 iron
Nick, I’m a recent subscriber and have been following you for awhile. What are your thoughts on S&T for the senior golfer? I’m 76 and have played the game for 65 years, but my body just can’t do what it used to do. Is S&T a viable option for us old guys? I’m a little concerned about stress on the left knee, but I have hit some really good shots while playing around with this swing. What do you think, is S&T a good fit for seniors?
I watched this a few times and did a dry practise in front of my TV to ingrain the moves into my muscle memory b4 I tried it up at the range later. Many thanks to Nick for the excellent video!
Hi nick. Subscribed, and bell activated! Thank-you for a fantastic enlightenment. My right hip accès from trying to bu p forward! I like your numbers for face to path and target. I m'appelle out my garage floor and à piece of carpet to try and achieve 4 degrees face to target, and an additional 4 degrees for club path. I am thinking my stance should be 8 degrees open as well. For the dreaded driver ? What say you ?
Nick, correct me if I am wrong. The objective of placing weight at the front foot is to aid in compressing the ball more effective, isn’t it? What is then the objective for doing the same for the driver shot? To help to spring from the leading leg upward?
Hey Nick, loving S&T, I keep weight forward and on downswing I keep moving forward and really compressing the ball, literally smashing the ball.... but it seems like i keep moving forward like I'm walking away after I hit the ball lol. As I said hitting clean. How do I stop moving forward so much, I'm the opposite, going really forward. Hey should I just keep playing that way or try to finish standing still. Thanks
Great to hear Frankie, I would suggest working on the shoulder bend extension in the finish. Check out this video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-9Rr3kwMVRs0.html
Wow, another excellent video Nick. Thanks We've discussed weight forward, whole body or just slight hip bump. Switched to a slight hip bump and focused on keeping the eyes over the center of the ball. Striking much more solid on a more regular basis. However, I never leave a divot after the ball even on a 150-170 yard shot. I'm working to figure it out because I know I could compress it more and gain distance. Thanks for sharing!
Hi Nick When you demonstrate with the eight iron it appears that that you don’t complete the back swing. It looks like a half or three quarter swing. Please advise. Thank you. Jerry
This is such an awesome video. Shared with my golf friends that are just beginning and they are thanking me . So thank you again. Quick question with the driver. Maybe I miss understood. Do you shift the weight forward like the irons and afterwards your waist a little forward as well or only the waist forward. That is my question. I seem to hit the ball way to high in the air still average 225 245 but pops up way to high. Thank you again.
So I am little confused. I watch Rob Cheney as well. I thought at setup, you only moved you hips slightly toward the target which gave you shoulder tilt without moving low point behind ball. Your head and center of sternum would stay more centered over the ball. Did I misunderstand or is this a variation?
I would say a slight variance, I like to move both centers forward at setup and the right hand lower on the club provides a slight shoulder tilt with the irons
If I sway too much forward in the downswing and get my entire body ahead of the ball at impact, should I simply think turn my left hip out of the way to start the downswing? Thanks!
When you’re pushing your hips forward on the downswing, are you simultaneously “opening”the hips or is it push then open? For instance, when working on that drill with the noodle, should I think of touching the noodle with the side of my left hip, front of left hip/thigh, or right thigh? Thanks, Nick!
More of a push but the hips should open too, the feel is to bump the noodle with the left hip. Most golfers turn enough but not enough slide or shift forward with the hips in the downswing
Have been a stack and tilt swinger for 20 years now, biggest issue is weight getting too far forward and reducing the height of shots with everything from 9 up. How do I increase loft with a s and T swing??
I am still having issues with ball positions . I would love the simplest way to remember this. At the range it's easier but when I'm playing a round just all goes out the window under pressure. Please what us the simplest way to remember ball positions for all my clubs lol thank you again
@@NickTaylorGolf Also do you have a video for bonkers and chipping ? I have been using the stack and tilt method as well just 1/4 to 1/2 in back swing seems to work for me. Just wanted to know if you actually had a video on this. Thanks again for everything. I have been sharing your videos with my friends and co-workers we are new to the game so thank you.
@@NickTaylorGolf I really enjoy your instructions. I have embraced the stack and tilt system. A excellent point in your video was moving the stacked belt buckle forward one inch. This is a great point that should be emphasized. Thanks and keep up the great work. Chad, Texas Strong😎
What would causes me to not finish the follow through after I strike the ball? I seem to stop about a 1/4 to 1/2 way into the finish. This occurs both with irons and woods.
What I don’t understand is if you are already forward, how do you then go forward? I picture a flamingo standing on one leg. Nobody ever address this weight shift dilemma. Hope you can.
I love this but you say your stacked ? Your head is slightly behind the ball and your hips are forward ( towards the target ) I’ve found leaving my head behind the ball is key 🔑 to getting amazing contact , head behind hips , weight slightly forward , can you enlighten us 🙏
So you must be leaning the shaft forward for this to happen? You need to keep an eye on the clubface as should only be slightly open to target at setup so you may need to adjust it
It looks like with weight forward you get a very short backswing or in a short swing like you have to be very flexible to complete the backswing. With a shorter backswing you have to be very strong. to develop clubhead speed like. you and Jon Rahn. You look very strong. I wonder how a less fit golfer can make this work.?
Interesting and great content, but i have a question, can not all of you ST instructors on youtube have a meeting so you not confuse the viewers? I saw Cogomo also having videos now with Saguto etc. Saguto say roll in your right foot and not finish with the right foot/heel up. But i see you finish like that. Confusing..
The right foot should roll yes and eventually finish in the inside of the big toe. The majority of golfers spin out with the right foot causing weight back, too much rotation moving the path outside to in. The feeling of banking or rolling helps them get into the position im in
I have been working on stack and tilt for about a year and a half now. It appeals to me because it is very systematic and based on geometry and physics. However, I know I am still not executing correctly. I do not move my weight forward during the downswing correctly. At 6’ 2” and 250 pounds, I struggle to hit driver 225 and that’s just not right. I like your data based approach to stack and tilt.
You aren't getting your weight over to your right side, instead you are rotating around your left knee, and flipping your hands. What would be the reason to teach a reverse pivot?
The biggest problem I see with most golf instruction is they always tell you to get your weight to the left, which is correct, but it needs to be gradually. If move your weight left too quickly it will cause pulls for the better player and slices for the higher hcp. When you have no more weight to move left the club will start closing and moving left so if you having problem with pulls make the weight transfer gradually and smoothly. This will help with whatever golf swing you choose including the stack n tilt.
No great player has ever done this. Please watch Nicklaus , Tiger, Hogan, Snead, Trevino, Player, Watson and every good ball striker snd you will see a obvious shift of the weight back and through the swing. Try throwing a ball, hitting a baseball, serving a tennis ball, serving a volleyball, throwing boxing punch and any other athletic move. The weight transfer is the master fundamental . Ignore the the occasional improvement by players who say this helped. It's likely they had some fundamental flaw in their action that this outlier concept temporary helped. I actually thought this nonconforming teaching had gone the way of dinosaurs.
