Stacy..thank you so much for these videos. my life long dream was to be a trainer. but allergies and serious health issues (and old age) keeps my dream at bay. I was told i had between 5 to 10 yrs left to live. we are building a house on 6.5 acres. I'm going to try your methods for the fist time in my life with my older mares (26 and 18yrs) hopefully I can do something with them. you never know right? at least I'd be able to live my dream of training my horses before I go. thank you so much. :)
Stacy Westfall's approach is so much better than Parelli's Her horse associates her with calmness 100% of the time; Parelli gets the horse all riled up, anxious, frightened and eventually relaxed. The emotional association a horse has with a handler stays with them.
Yes, she is taking her time to illustrate the need for handling 'you". The "you's" of the horse world are so opinionated and critical of any other person. What she is teaching is partially for your negative attitudes. For instance, tapping with the "stick" has to be explained in simple, repetitive, "this will not hurt the horse, see I can do it to my own shoulder" language or the observing "horse" critics will hit on that. so time must be taken up front for every move.
