s k Probably in the know so doesn’t get a jobs worth of an mot technician, or it was mot’d with the mudguard on and baffle in exhaust then removed afterwards. You shouldn’t bother looking at these types of bikes if that’s all your concerned with you wouldn’t like the scene anyway by the sounds of it grandad.

s k fair point, older classics get exceptions but I've switched mufflers, used dummy cats on my.TVR to get mot's. Everybody knows just nobody talks about.it.nudge nudge wink.

The jetting was done on a rolling road by Riverbank Motorcycles in East London. We don't have info on the jet sizes, but experience tells us that every custom bike is different, and once you swap the pipes and remove an airbox the only way to good fuelling and AF mix is on a rolling road.

Thank you for answering! I also would suggest that you post a blog-post or something, wtih details about the technical stuff! like the battery box, wiring, welds, tuning and so on! Would be magically good to have something to get inspired from. There are a lot of people building scramblers, and seeing how people have built theirs, is always very educational :)

These engines are 4 valve with separate exhaust ports.

Having a loud bike in London can mean life or death... It is noisy and does upset some people, but we prefer to know Vikki is safer on our crowded city streets. ... As an alternative, try riding a quiet bike in London and see how many people almost knock you off the bike on a daily basis! It's a very dangerous city for bikes.

From people I know who've been to Europe and driven there, I can understand that point of view, sad that it seems to prevail though in other parts of the continent, I know that there are firm silencing rules.

Like any life situation, you adapt to what is best at the time. In London (a noisy city) having a loud bike is a good thing (in our opinion). This may not be so true in a quieter place, and we do consider ourselves to be considerate riders, who care a lot about our impact on other road users and London residents.

I was well into the "you meet the nicest people on a Honda" campaign in the '60s here in the U.S. and there was a considerable image impression of bikers of the day being rowdy and loud. As I served with several dealers as a tech and safety inspector, the lead was toward being more civil and safe. We had an inspection requirement in N.Y. state that ruled that ex systems needed to be stock or equivalent to stock in noise output. We didn't get really hard nosed about it as time progressed, mostly because the weight of the issue was intrusive on people's choices and we were trying to promote responsible ridership. Anyhow, hats off to Vikki, she has a fun ride.

Couldnt agree more, it sounded absolutely aweful. I'd hate to be nearby when that goes down the street. Plenty of people also commute in London and dont get hit daily, so that argument isnt too valid.
