Bingo mate this actually will be a basic budget build even the 12v is basic minus the lithium battery, A simple DCDC charger and a fridge in the back.

Looking mint mate. I'm concerned about roo protection as I hit a big boomer in the twilight on the way to Toodyay. You know your area and driving times etc so hope you'll be fine. Are you dust proofing the tub? I did my Triton ute DIY with some seal from bunnings works a treat. Self-adhesive and has lasted 5 years so far, still good.

Hey mate I’m going to get a kit for the dust proofing off eBay it looks pretty well thought out, regarding the Roo I don’t drive enough at night or dusk/dawn to warrant it mate.

Hi mate, my ranger sport will be getting on the venture canopy soon. Do you use any kits to prevent leaks from somewhere? such as the gap between the tailgate and the tubside. How did you do the seal job? Could you share something? really keen to know. thanks!

Hi mate I installed the Grunt 4x4 seal kit it seems to do a good job of blocking everything out

@@4x4CampingandAdventures you have to buy them from ford and put them on which I have never heard of before can’t believe you have to pay extra so you can put a canopy on

Apologies mate sorry I thought you meant the internal braces I didn’t read that comment properly, yep J braces installed before putting on the canopy

Have the same canopy on my new Ranger, they look great however I am very disappointed with it in the wet weather. There are no rain gutters above any of the windows so when the windows are wet and you open them, the water runs up the glass and drips into the tub. The worst is the back window because of the large surface area, in some spots mine actually trickles in🙄. I can’t believe they made such a basic design error with these canopies. I have contacted Maxliner but they just pass the comments onto their design team which doesn’t fix the problem for us that have them.

Good info to know mate I have not had it it in extreme wet weather yet I’ll keep a eye on it.

@@4x4CampingandAdventures yeah it’s an issue, even with heavy dew. We are from SA but currently caravanning in southern WA and the weather in the last couples of weeks has been pretty wet. 😀. I noticed the strip lights in the canopy, what brand are they and have you hard wired them in somehow?. Better than the AA battery operated light supplied. Looking forward to seeing the rest of your build. 👍

Thanks mate the LED strips are just from anaconda about $49 bucks comes with a kit etc to mount it up I wired them to the rear cig plug for now but I will hard wire them in the 12v video 🔧 thanks mate I appreciate it!

Update regards the water dripping into the tub from rear window of the canopy. Maxliner have been in touch and have been excellent, even mentioning a replacement! However I carefully tightened the 4 bolts that attach the spoiler to the glass and that seems to have solved the problem. Only needed up to a quarter of a turn, didn’t want to crack the glass! Have retightened all the screws and at this stage it seems to have solved the problem. Absolutely impressed with Maxliners response to the problem after my second contact.
