Love this piece. Dvorak was a master and a genius. I never knew the score had the cello and bass in it!

this is the only wind serenade which could compete with Mozart's ones. Great job Anton.

Brahms serenade 1 nonet version is also a good one imho, if we can disregard that it's only 55% wind 😬

The slow movement is surely an homage to Mozart's.

Thank you for listing the names of the players. Though I would have thoroughly enjoyed the performance had there been no video, shots of Mr Orozco-Estrada's face and those of the musicians, oboist Nicolas Cock-Vassiliou especially, make this video all the more delightful. Kudos to the audio and video directors and technicians for making this, indeed, all of the hr-Sinfonieorchester presentations, a highlight of every day I listen and watch.

I was afraid we would have no more videos from this outstanding orchestra for months. A small ensemble is perfect, as they can spread across the whole stage. Some day I hope to be able to travel again and hear this orchestra in person.

Beautiful and lively performance of this late-romantic and well-composed serenade with mild sound of all the winds as well as deep sound of cello and bass. The virtuosity of all the players is truly amazing. The brilliant conductor leads the excellent ensemble in a well-phrased and rhythmical tempo and with perfectly united dynamics. Simply wonderful!

Thanks Stage@Seven for this opus from Dvorak that I did not know. It sounds like a dancing interlude, or a cavalry march. The slow movement is more romantic, reminds me of the superb serenata for strings. Dvorak was a truly great composer, his inventiveness and variety is impressive. The rendering by the winds from the Frankfurt Radio Orchester is excellent, not to mention the "coronavirus setup". In these times of solitude and introspection, a welcome respite and great music.

I don’t know why Dvořák need a Cello and a Double Bass for a Wind Serenade.
@dirkschneiderheinze
@dirkschneiderheinze 4 года назад
I would say primarily to add weight to the bass part, which normally are just the bassoons (not an instrument that projects too well). In fact in most forte sections all they are doing is doubling the bassoons. It also rounds out the overall sound by softening it somewhat, which is something I personally really like.
