Stainless Danforth Anchor from Scrap. 4lbs Dinghy Anchor

This week I grabbed some stainless steel scraps and made a drawing so that I could make a stainless steel dinghy anchor. I made this plans based on size tables and the available materials that I had in the workshop.
I used CATIA V5 to create the 3D part and then made the 2D drawing.
According to the software the anchor would be around 4lbs.
So with not much more than an angle grinder, a bench power drill and an old electrode welding machine I rolled up my sleeves and had a go!!

Hi István! all my neighbors are at least 15 to 20 yards away from my workshop! And I try to make noise not too early in the morning nor too late in the evening! 😅

Better welding than I could do. Those scotch brite sanding wheels are often called flap disks.

I think you have done a good job. The project is very good and well done. You could done the same but with another technic of welding. I not a professional, but we have now mig and tig welding machines . You did it, you did it. And you had a lot of fun. Thanks to share with us!

Off course the file will be great, if you could share with us. I work with Inventor, solidworks and mastercam. Any files will be great, but of course, I really understand if couldn’t share that. Absolutely agree! Great work!

@@TheBoatRambler hey Teo, just reading through the comments (I guess I’m an old stalker at heart) and you just mentioned a Laser trolley. Did you post a video about it? If so I missed it. I’m still to create my own trolley for a couple of SUPs we use (which gave me a hernia tossing on the 4WD roof - 3 high so it was awkward), so if there’s a hint on designing I am all ears.
