@@mx3805 no problem. This and the Quizlet app is take helpful. I'm currently a sterile processing lead in Denver, so I can tell you confidently they this is a really good series of videos. I always recommend these to my techs
Love, Love, Love❤ your videos. Your a wonderful teacher, I'm a visual learner I have to be in the classroom I've been looking online for videos like yours but was not able to find any until I stumbled about yours this past Friday. I was thinking about paying for the Purdue University Online Course but now your videos and aquinojuan's comment have given me the confidence to try and take the exam on my own! 😜 Your a great teacher wish I could come to Massachusetts and thank you in person. After I pass my exam of course😋
HarlemHoney0506 I also live in Massachusetts looking to take the exam by New year .my coworker passed the test with just looking at his videos pray I can do the same classes are not cheap.
@@HarlemHoney-qp4oc that’s great news to hear! I start my clinicals in January and I’m on chapter 18 in the 8th edition but I am still a bit confused how did you do it?
@@eddyhernandez9503 one important thing to know is the questions are worded differently from the workbook on the test. But read your book in its entirety, and do all the questions in your workbook and you can pass that’s how I did it. Oh and a lot of practice test on quizlet
I absolutely love your teaching. I'm learning so much. Thank you for posting this. I will continue to watch all of your videos and use these as my study tools.
you're doing the best by posting these lectures. im looking into a job i seen posted and have zero knowledge. you are giving me confidence as if i was sitting in your room. Thank you from California and my heart😉
Also, I turn on my Close Caption when watching you on my tv too. It is NOW 4:41AM I hope I go to church too. Kenny likes going. He's one of the residence. I gotta go. My teacher Steve is still lecturing
I've been in the sterile processing field for going on 20 years now and I had to chuckle a bit at your statement that "rusted instruments are no good and must be replaced"....if we did that, we would have to shut down the hospital because we wouldn't have any instruments left!!
Thanks for good info.. but let me tell you, usa and Germany also buying instruments from Pakistan. The quality is exactly same as usa and Germany but in very competitive price.. You can't call them bad at all, shine and dull look isnt sign of quality its two diff type of finishing process that depends on requirements and also worlds best craftman are there in pakistan surgical industry with 100 years + experience. you need to research about them more.. Thanks 😊
I'm in complete agreement with you. I know that companies in Pakistan produce excellent instruments nowadays. I have had an opportunity to examine them. Unfortunately, perceptions are hard to overcome and it is very difficult to get a foot in the door for an opportunity.
When your local american importer pays good price they get them marked with there brandings and german steel in satin finish. When they want dirt cheap they pay in cents and get it shiny and marked as pakistan. Unfortunately its the uneducated behaviour of our uneducated manufacture and exporter to not able to make good repute even after decades of exports.
Hello.. may I ask you what is the different of the red and yellow sharpness testing ( I mean the material, ex: in red one what's the meaning of rubeerlike fabric and contains latex)
Alaa'a Chem I can't explain exactly what the difference in material is. Perhaps it is density. The red material is used on larger scissors while yellow is used to test the smaller scissors. All materials in the hospital are latex free.
Hi proof, so far so good,ur videos are very encouraging, but there's one thing i need to ask you about, HIGH TEMPERATURE STERILIZATION! U don't focus on that. Why? Is that chapter not included in the Exam?please i really want to know.thanks
No. not much on that at all on the exam, if anything. Therefore I don't even bother on lectures. in the book there is a little info however, other than knowing that it transfers heat via conduction and that you can use fully closed contains and aluminium foil as packaging material, there's really not much else you need to know.
I love the videos and all, but Whomever is recording and uploading did a very terrible job. Half of these videos are cut off and there’s no continuation. What’s going on here? Do you all not view this before uploading? I’m assuming no! Any who, I’d like to know where’s the rest of the video for the “stainless Steel instruments”. It cuts off at the “tungsten carbide tips”.
Sure. As a base I use the iahcsmm 7th edition however to my students I give my personal set of handouts and tests that are generic for all certifications.
what are the different reprocessing steps for austenitic and martensitic surgical instruments ? is one high temp & low temp.? I could not find any info on the web
thank you so much.your videos started my path to becoming a spt,I'am on my last module for my online school from the sterile processing initiative, that you once again your video's helped me out alot
Jhonny Caicedo not sure what the reason may be, perhaps the decreased chromium content that may impede passivation and lead to increased staining. Then again I'm not a metallurgist nor the maker of surgical instruments :)
Thank you for the videos Professor Steve. They're very informative and not every teacher explains information the same. On one hand you are excellent. Am hooked to your lessons.
Hey, Steve Im from Philadelphia. I ENJOY watching your videos. It is my AIM to start class in Jan 2023 For Sterilization Tech Processor. Basically, Im being proactive and knowledgeable of what I NEED to know in addition to my class. You could NEVER know too MUCH!! about this. I review, study, take notes and watch your videos for over 2 hours. I ENCOURAGE you to CONTINUED. ITS NOT IN VEIN. IT IS CURRENTLY 4:10AM Sunday and Im looking at your video at work. I work in the health field MR/MH. You stated you didn't know why you were doing this jokingly perhaps followed by a giggle, because a guy past JUST by watching your video. Its for me and others. Its my mindset and aim with the HELP OF THE LORD and YOU I PAST and NOT JUST with a 70ty Therefore, I THA K YOU. I ALSO DO Quizlet TOO. I DID NOT KNOW OF IT UNTIL MAYBE A TWO WEEKS AGO. THANKING YOU AND GOD IN ADVANCE.
Thank you my dear. With this kind of work ethic, I'm sure you will pass the board exam and become a great sterile processing technician. Thank you for sharing with us. Wishing you much success.
That’s not it. We are looking for the end of the“ stainless surgical instruments”. The one where Steve is inside the classroom showing a picture of a Hemostat forcep.
5:13 because you once said all of what you're gonna talk about is the only thing will be on the exam😁. I have the 8th edition but I'm not confident enough that I'd study them correctly but I'm keep going😁 and this video is the only thing I could relax on when I'm too lazy or depressed reading the entire book myself plus this is the first book that I'm reading and trying to complete within 3 months but so far I've read 70% of the book in 1 month that only thing is I've missed the important things that i need to remember so your video is a total help for me. Wish me luck after completing this book I'm gonna be taking the exam. Thanks for your vids by the way😁👍
At the time of the recording of this video the book was iahcsmm CRCST manual 7th edition was used. Now, it is the 8th edition and iahcsmm was renamed HSPA
this teacher is very pedagogue, nothing to do with our teachers here in Belgium, I am a dental assistant and these videos have helped me a lot , thanks for sharing thoses videos
+steve yanovsky i am looking into certification. next session in my area starts end of Feb. This field seems very exciting. Im looking foward to this career. Thanks again Prof.
Thank you so much professor. Your videos are full of knowledge and they are very helpful. I'm getting a head start watching these. My first day of class starts today!
Depends on the purpose. If for the CIS exam buy the iahcsmm manual. If not for the exam then plenty of free resources on RU-vid and of course work experience.
I was also wondering if there is a part 2 that goes along with this surgical instrumentation chapter 11 in the book?? Such a wonderful thing you are doing. Thank you a million times over :)
