I am no longer a young guy but I would love to come work with you for a week or two just to learn and sing a little. I love working with people who know what they are doing and have a sense of humor.
Great teaching vids. What happens to me watching these vids because is I want to learn anything that will make my job quicker/tricks and easier. I have been at construction for 40 years I have cut numerous stair stringers but not like that. Not saying it is wrong. So what happens is I try to learn your way and it messes me all up. Just using the Master 5 calculator would be a lesson in itself. I have that calculator that just sits in my truck. Best framing video series on the youtube thank you
Wow , 7 1/4 to 7 5/8 is the maximum riser height in 5 states that I have built and or cased out stairs in over the last 45 years (still clicking) exterior treads and risers are not the same , most codes are more lenient with exterior residential stairs but more strick with commercial stairs , landings and rails.......up and down the east coast , I would have thought the West Coast codes to be less tolerant. Great Channel , have been picking up on some new tricks and tools to add to my tool box and my repertoire , thanks you for sharing your tricks of the trades , you have bettered yourself. Have really enjoyed the Ballon Framing videos and I have to imagine that you have very good relationships with a structural Engineer or two . I'm late to your videos but will get caught soon , only one other framer besides yourself putting out videos with techniques that I have not used or seen , called mattbangs wood , another west coaster , different style but jam up methods . Would like to take just a few tricks of each and combine with mine ..........then bang out a few more quality projects while I still can. Best part of our trade ....something new to learn most every day , never gets old , best work in the world.
Top notch vids guys ... super fun to watch and great building practices ... Essential Craftsman brought me here too ... and love the Voice over comments and live comments. Stellar work to all
I’ve been a framer , Home builder for over 50 years very few people use a pitch block it’s a good idea and the only way as far as I’m concerned but your almost their need to make the pitch block big enough to be able to nail a 1x2 cleat so you can slide it along . It’s way more accurate can also do the same laying out rafters .
Do you sawtooth cut the skirt boards when finishing ? I was taught to space off the wall with a 2x4 instead of a 1x4 so drywall and a skirt board can slip between the stud wall and stringer.
Essential Craftsman Podcast brought me here, like what I'm seeing already!! Are those a fresh set of Bull Run's you're rocking there? If they are, consider me subscribed!
@AwesomeFramers Why do you use Beck fasteners instead of screws for the stair treads? Conversely could you use the Beck fasteners instead of screws for the subfloor?
good question. Because they are so insanely tenacious and faster than screws. I've used a lot of different fasteners and am not loyal to any one of them, but these are pretty awesome. I woudn't use them framing because you can't make mistakes with them. Its a nightmare pulling them.
Great vid , a little Brian McKnight in the background never hurt either. I love the makita hp gun..question, do you prefer the max hp guns or the makita hp gun
A set like this I could do (without filming) in less than 3 hours. I once (15 years ago) had the guys time me doing the same stair but with a landing, so an L and I did that in 2 hours flat. I was flying 🤣😊😊
Hi Karl. The process would be exactly the same, but obviously different unit measurements :-) I don't actually use the calculator in metric, but I'll take a look at it. Do you own a Construction Master? If you don't I recommend the Pro Trig version or for your phone the BuildCalc app buildcalc.com/
@@karlk9148 It is very similar and an amazing app. I would suggest taking the time to play around with it. I haven't but will now that we are off work because of COVID-19. There is an awesome feature with stairs where it'll generate into a pdf what I described in the video.
yep, I think so. But we were constrained by the width of the entry and followed the plans. If it were up to me and I had the room, absolutely 7 5/16" 👍
www.elevenworkwear.com.au/men-s/jumpers-jackets/jacket-ultra-lite-quilted-hivi I love that coat. I wish it stretched, but it is nice and warm and lightweight.
