I "experienced" this song when I was about 8 years old, in 1974. It totally blew me away along with the entire album. I've been a Zeppelin fan ever since.

It’s not my pick, but it’s certainly one of the greatest. The impact of Plant’s lyrics and voice is what really elevates it for me. It’s ethereal, almost medieval, and very powerful. If you’re curious about my pick, it’s probably Love, Reign O’er Me or Behind Blue Eyes by The Who. Beautiful songs, as is Stairway to Heaven!

Led Zeppelin made great music. Their B side songs were just as worthy as their A side classics. Listen in order from the first to the last album they produced... all magical. Some songs even envoked their love of J.R.R. Tolkien's "The Lord of the Rings" and had references to the characters and events of those stories.

Best way to discover Led Zeppelin = Start to finish, song by song, track by track, album by album, beginning with 1969's LED ZEPPELIN I, and ending with 1982's CODA. It's a helluva roller coaster, and they never had one bad song. Greatest rock band of all time!

Yes Lovely Liz, perhaps the most recognizable, powerful rock song of all time, AND YET, the band HATED THIS SONG! You heard correctly and this all despite the fact that this song is the song that almost everyone attributes to the "Sound of Led Zeppelin". I am pretty sure there are people around the world who know this song even to this day. Iconic. Legendary. Unbelievable. Part of the History of All Time Great Music (and always will be). This song will still be sung and covered 1000 years from now as it is part of our lexicon, our fabric of thinking and what Music really means and makes us feel and understand. Glad you took that moment to hear AND to listen to this Masterpiece. 😀

The band did not hate "Stairway to Heaven", but they did get frustrated that it seemingly overshadowed many of their other masterpieces. Admittedly, Plant did get tired of performing it and he did once say that it had been sung so many times by so many bands that he "learned to just hate that song because everybody murders it."

Released on their untitled 4th album (often referred to as LZ 4 or Zofo) in 1971. The album sold 37 million copies smashing radio airplay records for decades. Many listeners have tried to decipher these lyrics over the years, and it is rumored that Robert scratched them out on scrap paper in 15 minutes during recording sessions while the band worked out the musical changes! He was 21 years old :) Loved your reaction!

@@eye5856 Yes! My bad on that ... Zoso is Jimmy's symbol and that's what we called it when we were kids! Some also call it "the runes" album! Jimmy asked each band member to select a rune to represent them on the album cover. Robert's is the "Feather". I have read this was in protest to the reviews their 3rd album received, so they decided to not name the 4th album and also not have the band's name appear anywhere on the packaging, which of course drove Atlantic records absolutely mad! But in the end, Jimmy's intuition was correct again as the album is #5 on the US album sales list 52 years later!

Hi Lizzie!!!!❤❤❤ I play this song all day long on March 13th... It's the day after my best friend died in a car accident.... 😢😢😢❤❤❤ She died March 12th, 1993... When I found out she had died the next morning, from a phone call, I went in my room ,and balled my eyes out, and listened to this song all day.... Stairway To Heaven is considered the Greatest Rock song of All-Time... I concur with that thought.... War Pigs by Black Sabbath at #2, and Highway To Hell with Bon Scott on vocals with ACDC a close 3rd.... Gotta listen to those other 2 songs Lizzie... You will thank me later.. For me, an old hippie of 68, they were a top 5 band all time and this is a top 5 rock song considering how long it has been respected as one of the great Rock epics ever. If you loved this song as much as it appears then do yourself a huge favor and go to Led Zeppelin 1 and start with the start with Good Times, Bad Times, the first Led Zeppelin song we heard blast out the radio as their first song to be heard. Their first 2 albums are industry standards for hard rock and influenced all heavy bands that came after. For me the Beatles, Rolling Stones, Jimi Hendrix, Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin make up my all time Rock Bands top 5, with the WHO, Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, Queen and Eric Clapton (especially his 60s output) the next 5. You cannot go wrong with reacting to or just exploring for your own musical education with these amazing musical artists, you won't regret it and will listen with wonder and awe to some of the very best tunes in human musical history. @@allbottledup9513 I hear you on the WHO, they, Zeppelin and Floyd in my mind are tied for 4th, they are so good, it is my mood that would rank one above the other. Also, for this oldtimer, Eric Clapton and what he did through Derek and the Dominoes edges out Van Halen for 10th. I almost would rank the Shenker brothers, Michael and Rudolf, and everything they did (Scorpions, UFO & MSG) above Clapton and Van Halen. Just my personal preference.

Wow what a beautiful and insightful reaction to this much loved song. I've heard it probably 100 times or more...I'm 61! They have so, so many great songs that take you on a ride and touch your soul. To start with I'd say Kashmir, When the levee breaks, Battle of Evermore and Thank you which I think would be in my top ten Led Zep favourite songs but it's so hard to choose! If you enjoyed this album cut, I highly recommend watching a live version to see how well Heart covered it. The one I think is best is from their 3 night stand at Madison Square Garden in 1973. Clear video and great sound.

Wonderful reaction to one of the greatest rock songs ever delivered by the 4 rock gods of my youth. Idk if it still holds the title or not but this song was the most requested song ever in radio. The band ended with the unfortunate death of their drummer John Bonham in 1980. The 3 surviving members teamed with John Bonham's son, Jason on the drums, for a final concert Celebration Day, in 2007. The originals were approaching their 60s, yet this special concert still generated more advance ticket requests m than any musical performance EVER. Led Zeppelin simply killed it and their concert live performances were incredible. Led Zeppelin was THE band of the 70s. The jade knocked the Beetles from the throne of the album charts, who themselves had dethroned Elvis from the music charts. Robert Plant- lead vocals, Jimmy Page-lead guitar & founder, John Paul Jones-bass guitar, keyboards & John Bonham have to be the greatest 4 artists in a rock band. Highly suggest you react to: When The Levee Breaks, Kashmir, Custard Pie, In My Time of Dying, The Rain Song, anything by LZ. Heavily influenced by Blues, Jazz, folk and of course, rock & roll.

You listened to it pretty much right through with your eyes closed which is cool because that’s the way pre MTV music and record albums were meant to be listened to. Back then music was an audio, not visual medium like it is today and YT videos mostly distract from the true listening experience. Great reaction to a LZ classic that takes you away to a different place.

There’s SOO many more great songs by Led Zeppelin and countless other bands from that time. Check out Kashmir, D’yer Mak’er, and my personal fav Fool In the Rain, or ANY of their music. These songs were so much fun to dance to (before arthritis and back issues). You might be able to find some videos from The Midnight Special, where groups got to play on TV, Saturday night for 2 hours one group after another. Wolfman Jack was the announcer, the audience was live, and they were dancing. Another show was Don Kirchners Rock Concert. You might be interested to see how we did it and to see if you can keep up. We had a style all of our own. You look like you feel the rock and want to roll. Let go of your inhibitions and dance.

Yes, in my opinion, this is Britain's greatest rock-n-roll song of all time - it's a musical masterpiece. And when Heart did the cover of it, they did the best cover that could ever be done . It takes a certain type of voice to sing this song and Robert Plant and Ann Wilson have it, obviously. Not all singers (even good singers) could pull it off. Oh, and I believe the best American rock-n-roll song of all time is Lynyrd Skynyrd's "Free Bird" - check that out if you haven't. Great reaction!

Great reaction! If you get a chance, the live performance of this song at Madison Square Garden in 1973 would make a great reaction video too, some would actually say, much better!
